Alright guys...it's almost that time again. A huge SEC game against a well known foe at home in the friendly confines of Neyland Stadium.

And as we all know...Richt has owned us here lately:no:

Here's the thing though....what is a home field advantage?

I see alot of people on here talk about our recent lack of success in Neyland and most people are using it as fuel against Fulmer...why?

A home field advantage isn't a home field advantage because coaches coach better at home or suddenly players become bigger, stronger and faster.

A home field advantage is an advantage because of us. It's an advantage because the fans are going to raise such hell that it intimidates the opposing players and coaches into making bad plays.

With a true home field advantage we the fans are so loud it disrupts the opponents ability to audible...or just flat out call a play.

And not only that but our players feed off of that energy to the point that they do become bigger, stronger and faster.

My point is...if Neyland is going to once again be the fortress of terror it once was for opposing teams then it's up to us to make it that way.

A home field adavantage is created by the facility and the fans.

Those of you who want to blame Fulmer for our recent lack of success at Neyland need to look in the mirror.

I've got my two tickets...come Saturday at about 3:30 I'll be in section SS row 16 rasing hell if anyone wants to join in with me:rock2:

I think Fulmer gets the blame because he's not aggressive anywhere, and Neyland is no different. Neyland was even rocking in late '05, but it didn't matter. 107k isn't what it used to be, for one i don't know that we can actually still fit 107k, for another, most the other SEC stadiums are getting rather close to filling with 100k.

Plus, it's hard to get 100k to cheer when the defense constantly gives up big plays

I know what you mean...and I'm not trying to defend Fulmer or hs short comings because I'm at my wits end like many others on here.

But I was just thinking about Neyland and the idea of home field advantage and it didn't make sense to me why our recent lack of success is blamed on Fulmer.

You think about it....why do we expect Fulmer to have an easier time winning on a home field as opposed to a road field.

Do the coaches change ther philosophy...obviously not, that hasn't changed for 15 years now.

Do the players alter their DNA and become bigger, stronger, faster? Well maybe if we live in lala land...but unfortunately we don't.

It's just common sense that a home field advantage is created by having an intimidating facility (check) filled with crazy fans (sometimes but not always).

I made this thread because there is so much talk on here about Fulmer losing his edge at Neyland....but IMO we as fans should shoulder some of that blame.
