OK...so today is the day that I can either change my season tickets to a new location or add new seats...I am currently in XX2 but looking at XX1 with the seats and not the bench, never been that high up but not much different than where we are now....anyone have any thoughts on being in the upper deck as compared to the lower deck?

I am moving up to the upper deck for 2016. My mom passed away, and she was grandfathered in to low donation level, since she had the tickets since '77. Unfortunately (for me, not UT), this perk passed with her.

I ended up in FF. I think I'm gonna like it - I have a nice set of binoculars. I visited my seats at the Spring game and thought the view was great.

One thing I've wondered about, and maybe someone here familiar with this area can answer. I've gone back and looked at some online pictures taken during a game, or just prior to a game. The section I am now in looks like.. how could I say this tactfully.. like the concession stand was serving beans. I can't for the life of me figure out why this one section has so many no shows during a game.. Below are a couple of pictures so you'll know what I'm talking about.

The first two, the VOLS are running through the T.
The last picture is in the 4th quarter of a GA game.. Seems even with a full house, FF has empties.

edit: I may have answered my own question. Looking at the pictures, I see the UT team heading to the EAST sideline. I'm guessing at one time, student seating was up in the upper deck.

Even in XX2 I have not seen the need for binoculars.you really do get a great view of the entire field and can see the play develop unlike the lower section close to the field. Still wondering if there are any XX1 folks out there.

I'm in ZZ (bench seats) & have sat in the chair backs in ZZ & it makes a BIG difference in how much further away the field looks. I like mine better! The upper deck is great!! Much better view & good stomping sections!!!
That aluminum or whatever it is can really get loud. 😬👍🏈

Those pictures are of the Dooley years & don't think any are of a GA game.

That last one is a GA game. The shot is cropped. UT has on Smoky Gray's with white helmets, so this must have been 2013. Looking at scoreboard, game was close, 4th quarter just underway. Empty seats look to be in the sunshine. Maybe thats why there are empties.

I get em every year. Helps identify your "seat." Especially when its typically different people sitting in the seats next to you a lot.

THIS. I wish they didn't have those Godforsaken arms on the back, but it helps stake your claim. You never know when Bob and Belinda Wide-butt will show up or Former Frat Bro will try to stuff 5 bodies into 2 seats.

As for the upper deck, I moved up to ZZ15 from Z12 and don't ever have plans to go back downstairs. We love it up there. We might move to an XX1-5 if some aisle seats ever open up, but that's about it.

This was my thought as well. My only concern is that it's going to mean my knees are in someone's back. (during tv timeouts, of course)

Old Student Section. During the CDD and Early CBJ years the team was bad, but the students were still charged for seats. Half of student seats were always in the upper deck. Students just don't like being in the upper deck thus when the team was bad these students just didn't show up. The last two years they moved the student seats that were in the upper deck to the south endzone now students go from D to J in lower deck. DD-FF are now donor seats.

The section is great. They have the same view as the Tennessee Terrace just on the opposite side.

That's what we had when I was there. My favorite were the first couple rows in DD and EE. Great view and very few of the annoying socialites that you got on the lower level.

My new seats in FF aren't far from the top. I did a "photo recon" at the spring game for future reference. I found this one seat - up in the corner. I may end up with that one one day. It's out of the weather! Check out the seat at the top. Picture to the right is the view from that lone seat.

(had to splice in a picture on the right to get full view)

I had to pay for my tickets those years too (plus the "donation" to be allowed to purchase said seats). Do you think if I refuse to attend games the AD will give me better seats?

XX chair backs under the roof are my favorite seats. Just make sure you're not too close to the press box if you're in XX1. It obscures the far end zone if you're close to it. Otherwise, I love the section and the room that comes with the seats. Shade and rain protection are plusses as well.

Students sit in first 50 rows of E and F which are sideline seats. The Band is in G, I think.
