Neyland Renovation

Moving the end zone walls back which will take seats away. Also talking about more luxury seats which would also take our capacity down. We'll be lucky to have 100,000. Pretty sad...slowly losing our Neyland Effect.

Those endzone corners need to be fixed as soon as possible. Way too dangerous.

You're right...very close and pretty dangerous even with all of the padding. There are new NCAA rules that make it illegal to have the walls that close, but we are grand-fathered in. I understand it, but I wish we could do some sort of expansion. Neyland under 100k just has a horrible sound to it.

The East side of the stadium needs wider concourses and better bathrooms like the south/west sides. I hope they can figure out a way to add more seats again, as I'm growing tired of losing seats for various reasons...

Edit: Although I do think having actual seats instead of bleachers would be a big improvement.

Whatever happened to the $200M renovations that Hamilton put us in the hole with? Did we just drop those halfway through?

Funny, this afternoon I heard a couple guys talking about Neyland and why they don't go to games any more. One old guy said that UT had an "amazing 60,000 seat facility that they sell 100.000 tickets for"

Agree. years ago they actually shrunk the designated seat space to 18", increasing the number of tickets they can sell. We had 6 tickets, went to two and then gave em all up. No plans to ever get them again, although they call enough.

I don't how the geography would accommodate an expansion. they are building locked on the East and North. at the edge of th road o West side. South would be the only way theyd essentially have to demo the south side and rebuild.

the stadium is I horrible shape and neeDS new concourses, rest rooms and repairS to the East and South sides.

They should and can expand, we got 150k plus into a stadium, we could do it repeatedly in Knoxville.

The endzone seating is something that has needed to be fixed for years. The safety risk is just not worth those extra 100 fans.

It's completely ridiculous what they did with the seating adjustment. Honestly, Neyland is about a 93,000 seat stadium with 102,000 seats in it. It doesn't need to be an NFL stadium, but it needs to evolve a little for sure.

Neyland is not the only one that crams folks in. Alabama's stadium is just as bad.

I know where there is a pretty nice stadium that seats about 300 more than Neyland......if y'all will come over, I'll help you boost it

I remember getting an email with a survey on what we (fans) would like to see in Neyland renovations. It also mentioned new seating ideas to gauge the popularity/demand I assume. I know people are talking about moving the end zone corners back, but I think seats would be made up in the lower level luxury area they were contemplating, as well as the upper level concourse area near the jumbotron. Someone posted the pictures on here of the proposed plans and seating changes

I found the link to that discussion:http://www.volnation.com/forum/tennessee-vols-football/255419-neyland-renovation-survey.html?highlight=neyland+survey

I asked DP a couple of years ago what Neyland would seat if it had chair backs. He said there was a study about that and it would hold around 80K.

If you went to aTm last week. The seats were wide, the row were wide...and there were 700 of them!:)

We should model Neyland after the new Atlanta Falcons stadium/Jerry's world...taking the best of both worlds. I would set it up for a normal 110,000 with special events where we could add in another 20,000.

Put in a retractable roof that smashes gator heads when it closes and sell Rocky Mountain oysters as Elephant nutz!

Pictures of Uga, Roosters, Kittys and Anchors in the urinals...yeah! Let's keep it classy!
