Neyland Improvements-Mistakes

I don't have to spend 15 years in anything to realize that, I knew it already, b/c it was posted here in multiple threads. I would think if you had "contacts", then you wouldn't have had to walk in the stadium on Saturday to find this information out, b/c I didn't have to, and I only have 1 contact.

It just makes me laugh when people make sure they let people know that they know someone in the AD by telling us how YOU are gonna set the University straight on something like that. It wasn't funny it got "overlooked", it's funny that you, of all people, are going to be the savior of information and call them after 100,000 other people have seen it too and that's gonna be the thing that gets it fixed.

BTW, I hope someone does lose their job over it... And for the person who said I'd feel stupid when I found out he has contacts, I have no doubt the guy knows someone in the AD, congrats. But if he had "contacts" that were important enough to call and point out an error as though they'd correct it, then he wouldn't be sitting in Y9.

Those who actually know me on here know what I meant and know there was no bragging intended in what I said. If you took it that way, sorry. I personally detest braggards. I hadn't had the time to scan through the paper/boards to know this was already common knowledge.

BTW, those on here who might know me personally are probably laughing there arses off as well...at you.

In any case...I was simply aggravated that one of the best players in UT history had his name misspelled. It's no reason for personal attacks on other posters.

We won, lets all be happy (for at least a week)....Go Vols.:salute:

I also liked the improvements, especially the wrap around LEDs. However, I wish they would dedicate one or two of those sections to scrolling scores for other games.

I know, I know, it would take away from the advertisement space.

Anybody know why they moved the play clock to the upper LED's when it has always been at field level? I was just wondering.

I didn't attack you. I was aggravated also. Go back and read your post as someone who doesn't know or has never seen you around here, maybe you'll think a little differently.

The rule is that they have to both be located at the same place on each side of the field. We padded wall in the South end zone, so we had to move it up, and b/c of the rule, had to move the one in the North end zone up.

The Wrap-arounds were cool when used right. What I mean by used right were when they were used for; big play recognition, checkerboards at TD's, Score updates, and anything else that helped the overall experience of the game.

What I did not like about them was the advertisement changes. I found numerous times during the game that the Ads would change from a bright to a dark ad, or vice versa resulting in a big lighting change and caused people to look away from the game. The people sitting around me in T were complaining that the boards were distracting from the game. I know that is their function is to grab attention, just be more tactful about it. We pay good money to not miss possible key points of plays.

It is somewhat distracting. But, its a good change. It was the first game i'm sure they will get it right before GA comes calling.

Well if UT raises the ticket prices just $1 you get a trailer park frenzy. Like it or not, the university has to pay for these upgrades somehow.

I ordered the game on ESPN PPV last night. Happy the Vols won, but it felt like I was watching a used Betamax tape of an early 80's high school football game. I think someone should just spend a few hundred dollars and purchase a new video camera.

My wife made the same comment while we were watching the PPV broadcast.

Then don't look away from the field. I knew they were changing but it was pretty easy to keep my eyes on the game.

Like I said before, I just wish we could somehow get updated scores continuously. That is one thing I loved about the Swamp. As much as I love watching the Vols, I also like to scoreboard watch in between plays.

well here's my take:

i sit in z13, top row. I have not seen a UT jumbotron in all my years.

The fact that the LED boards are 4 feet tall, means i have even less of the stadium to look at. I cannot even see the boards...only the backsides.

Also, they moved the play clock from the north and south endzones, so now, NO ONE in my section sees the damn play clock!

I am pretty pissed about it.

I, too, found the full-motion ads on the LEDs very annoying and detracting from the atmosphere of the stadium. If they want to put small advertisements on the side during score updates, etc., cool, but we don't need TV-esque sales pitches thrown our way while trying to enjoy the game.

I know it's all new, but I hope that there will be a lot of improvement in the new media.

i never thought the seats in the top rows on the lower level were that good anyway. i know they're 'in the dry' but i've never enjoyed a game from there.
