First, the new wrap-around LED boards are AWESOME. They can do so much more cool stuff with those than the old boards.

I also like the signage in the corners honoring the national title teams and retired numbers, but there is a HUGE error that I can't believe was overlooked (I have already called some of my contacts in the athletic department about it)...

Doug Atkins' name was spelled wrong ("Doug Adkins") and they had the wrong number for him (98 instead of the correct 91).

You think somebody would check that out before the first game!

They also forgot to turn on the Jumbotron lights until the 3rd quarter last night, and four of the flagpoles in the south end were missing flags. I wonder if they are breaking in new Event Management staff or something. Yes, I know I have too much time on my hands and have no life; but I work in sport management so its my job to notice things like that.

They changed the lights in the jumbotron, too (The score, timeouts ect) They're not individual lights anymore, but digital. They definitely need a new screen. It's faded and blurry.

LMAO @ "call my contacts"...

Even IF I hadn't seen that on here the other day, I would never be delusional enough to think I was the very first person to notice that was wrong...

LOL... That gave me a good laugh this morning, thanks.

I ordered the game on ESPN PPV last night. Happy the Vols won, but it felt like I was watching a used Betamax tape of an early 80's high school football game. I think someone should just spend a few hundred dollars and purchase a new video camera.

I don't believe he was laughing as much because the guy "has contacts" as he was laughing about telling "his contacts" as if they didn't already know what he was gonna call and tell them.

I agree 100%. I couldn't get a single number off of anyone's jersey the whole night. It was so bright and low-quality.

I was thinking the same thing. I couldnt tell what happened to the ball on field goals the pixelation was so bad. Just had to wait for the refs to signal good or not?

Great. Glad I could help brighten your day. After you spend 15 years in athletics administration and realize all the obvious crap that is often overlooked, its not as funny.

People lose jobs over things like that...(I.E. Florida's Crocodile on the front of the media guide and Tampa Bay playing "Rock You like A Hurricane" over the PA against the Saints just after Hurricane Katrina.)

I don't have to spend 15 years in anything to realize that, I knew it already, b/c it was posted here in multiple threads. I would think if you had "contacts", then you wouldn't have had to walk in the stadium on Saturday to find this information out, b/c I didn't have to, and I only have 1 contact.

It just makes me laugh when people make sure they let people know that they know someone in the AD by telling us how YOU are gonna set the University straight on something like that. It wasn't funny it got "overlooked", it's funny that you, of all people, are going to be the savior of information and call them after 100,000 other people have seen it too and that's gonna be the thing that gets it fixed.

BTW, I hope someone does lose their job over it... And for the person who said I'd feel stupid when I found out he has contacts, I have no doubt the guy knows someone in the AD, congrats. But if he had "contacts" that were important enough to call and point out an error as though they'd correct it, then he wouldn't be sitting in Y9.

It's one thing to think something.
Another thing to say something nicely about it.
Still another thing altogether to be an ass.

I'm being an ass b/c I am laughing at a guy who came on here to tell all of us how he was calling his contacts from Y9 to tell them a project they were in charge of doing was done incorrectly?

Wow.

But hey, btw, when basketball season gets here, make sure your hotline to your contacts is open, b/c when you walk in TBA, you could possibly be the first to notice that someone has been plotting to steal our orange seats.

i figured it was such a ridiculous claim that nobody would question it's validity.

Considering that I just read a post where a guy who sits in Y9 said he had "contacts" that he felt were meaningful enough to call about a mistake he assumed noone else had the wits to notice and thought those "contacts" would then get that fixed as if it hadn't already begun, I'm beginning to think there is nothing out of the realm of possibility here.

P.S. That's way too long of a sentence, can I get an English major to punctuate that for me b/c I know it isn't right.
