I realize this very premature and about a million things could happen before next season, but I needed to take my mind off that joke of a game.

Starting Lineup - Best Case Scenario
PG - Chris Jones
SG - Kevin Ware
SF - Hopson
PF - Harris
C - Hall

Starting Lineup - Worst Case Scenario
PG - Golden
SG - Tatum/McBee
SF - McRae
PF - Woolridge
C - Hall

Starting Lineup - Probable
PG - Jones
SG - Ware
SF - Hopson
PF - Woolridge
C - Hall

I would have said Hopson was gone until 2-3 weeks ago and now I think he's played himself from a mid-first rounder to an undrafted player.

If Harris leaves, then we have ZERO inside game past Kenny Hall, ZERO.

If CBP is out, then Harris and Hopson are gone and I seriously doubt Jones or Ware come to UT.

Thoughts?

if CBP leaves, Jones and Ware could still very well end up at UT. Hopson has apparently expressed great interest in staying (posted in a different thread) and Harris needs 1 more year before he is ready. I could see Harris and Hopson staying, and Jones and Ware coming in as well.

No Maymon?

You left out Maymon on the inside. He needs to improve his free throw shooting. But he can score on the inside. He will more than likely start over the rapper.

I love Pearl but he has not recruited well the last two/three years. Where are the 6-3 to 6'7 wingers who aren't high school AAs but are athletic enough and hungary enough and can shoot and handle the ball well enough to be productive, good players? Look at practically every mid-major--butler, vcu, xavier, richmond, on and on--they've all got at least three guys like this. And yet we don't really have them. We have hopson and tatum--both head cases or near-head cases and both SOFT. Hopson improved this year, I'll give him that, but he's not very tough mentally and Tatum was a joke.

We need to get back to that mid-major mentality that we had in Pearl's early years--when we got after people defensively--and while we should keep going after elite players with our recruiting, we'd better make sure we at least get some good, solid athletic players---better than the group we had this year--and guys with GOOD ATTITUDES. Geez, watching this tournament it's pretty clear that we were not very talented--and then thrown in the endless distraction of the Pearl saga and we see the result.

I think we can safely say that our streak of 6 consecutive NCAA appearances is history. If CBP and staff leave, Jones has stated he will not come here. I have no idea if Harris will stay, but with 5 seniors leaving, the roster will be slim to say the least.

My best guess:

PG: Jones
SG: Hopson
SF: Tatum
PF: Maymon
C: Hall

we could definitely use some hungary players.

Hears what I hope happens.

Hire a good coach. Recruits stay with UT. Will not sign any other players, wish we could sign another big man and 3 point shooter but that will not happen.

Line up

Play 8 people

1. Point Guard Jones 30 mins golden 10 mins

2. Shooting Guard Ware 27 mins golden 13 mins

3. Wing Scotty 20 mins McRae 20 mins

4. Post Harris 30 mins Maymon 10 mins

5. Post Hall 25 mins Maymon 15 mins

I would be pretty happy if this came true!!

BP gone- Scotty stays, Harris goes pro.
Once again, both Ware and Jones have signed LOIs which leads me to believe they will both be here next year.

Of course, if they are released from their letters or are willing to sit out then they could opt to play elsewhere. I just don't see that happening.

Ware likely won't start next year. He's been recruited for his upside and athletic ability, but his jump shot is still inconsistent and he still needs to learn the game better. He'll be good in the future, but at the moment he's a poor man's Travis Leslie (from what i've seen)

Just being completely trivial, I'd put my money on Scotty being at 2 guard next season if he stays. I know our "system" creates a very thin line between SG and SF, but I think Ware plays more as a SF than SG.

Also, I'd expect Tatum to start. Although it's completely possible he won't.

Then what is Tatum...a poor man's Dane Bradshaw?

I considered Maymon, but just don't see his game being where it needs to be to start or play significant minutes in the SEC, although he will probably get some PT next year as we will have very few interior options.

With or without Pearl, Hall better bulk up this offseason and Maymon better learn to shoot freethrows
