Aren't you all confident in the new HC?

What if Mullen had made his way to Tennessee? I'm betting some on here would be saying the talent would be enough with Mullen to beat Florida and some of those other teams.

Those who are going below 8-4 must not have confidence in the coaching staff that is being assembled - because the talent is there for 8 wins. The wild card if the first game IMO. That could go either way.

you guys _DO_ know that they've already published next year's schedule and you can use your computer to go look it up for yourselves, right?

And here is that link. Any of you who think there are more than 7 wins in here are probably drinking a little too much of that Moonshine IMHO. I love my vols, but i believe 6-6 would be a very successful year, 7-5 likely the ceiling.

WVU, 7-5 this year
ETSU, easy Win
UTEP, easy Win
Gators, w/Dan Mullen
#3 Georgia on Road
#7 Auburn on Road
#4 Alabama
South Carolina, 8-4 this year
49ers, easy Win
Kentucky, 7-5 this year
Mizzou, 7-5 this year
Vandy, 42-24 loss at home this year

I have complete faith in the coaching staff, but am likely more realistic.

Our OL was horrible last year and has depth problems that will take a couple years to get corrected and filled with a two deep SEC level talent.

Our run defense was horrible. Good grief we could not have stopped a baby in a walker. Lack of depth, lack of SEC speed and lack of discipline. This will take a couple years as well.

We are not a quick fix. We have talent in spots, RB is a great example. But it will take a couple recruiting cycles to get us back. Add into that other teams are getting better in the East as well.

Let’s give Pruitt time to do this right. There will be a couple years of growing pains.

Put me down for 7-5 with much better play all across the field.

Could easily be 6-6 but I think Pruitt will excell.

I will hope for 8-4 and would consider that extremely great coaching.

7-5 sounds about. Playing bama and auburn next year is gonna be painful. I think Georgia takes a step back. They lose a ton, not to mention some coaches!

8-4 is possible if we can beat Florida at home. Guarantee we will beat Kentucky, Vandy and Missouri next year.

This....listening to his presser, I think Pruitt will have them ready for the games they are supposed to win every year. No reason we should have lost them this year.

I think 7-5 is the sweet spot with both 6-6 and 8-4 possible. Not gonna lie though, if we go 8-4, I will be very confident in Pruitt's ability to make us feared again.

I think anything 6-6 or better should be counted as success.

We have lost a lot of players off of the roster. Pruitt will likely drive off even more to make room on the roster for his recruits. We are likely to have a thin roster next year.

Coaching can overcome some issues but we have a tough schedule next year, especially with Auburn as our rotating opponent from the west.

Pruitt and a much stronger staff will make us tougher and more competitive in Year 1. Taking into account our depth and hellacious schedule, best case is 8-4 and worst case is 5-7.
We'll get 3 wins versus out-of-conference cupcakes.
The KY and Vandy games are tossups as of today.
FL, SC and Mizzou would be 3-7 pt. favorites over us, but all 3 are winnable.
AL, GA and AUB are high-probability losses.
Outside of the SEC slate, the WV game is huge and sets the tone for the season. WV will be clear favorites, but who knows.
Considering where we've been and what we're up against, I'll settle for 6-6, a bowl and a ton of momentum going into 2019.

7-5 is the ceiling IMO.

We play Florida, UGA, Auburn, Bama in a 4 game stretch (bye in between UGA and Auburn).

Auburn returns essentially everyone. Florida graduates 2 players. Bama is Bama. And UGA is well ahead right now.

WVU was without Grier at the end of the year.

We need to win ETSU, UTEP, USCe, Vandy, Mizzou, Charlotte, UK to get 7 wins. I think it’s a stretch to believe it’s certain that we win all of those.

6-6 and I easily trust Pruitt for another year. Better than that with our schedule and I am a believer. Worse than 5-7....I hope one of these coordinators makes a good interim coach.

I have the feeling there's going to be a lot of disappointment next year. No matter what our coaches do, they can't change who we have on the line of scrimmage.

Mizzou might depend on Lock going pro

Interim after the first year? I don't think that would happen, even if he did go 4-8. That being said I think 4-8 is as about as likely as Pruitt not being a good coach. We will be fine.

Like you said...worst case 5-7 but I will go with the median and say 6-6 with a bowl win.

Im not afraid to admit it, I am unrealistic, but UT goes undefeated and wins the NC!

I predict it every year, no matter what. I was in total shock when it actually happened in 98. Every other year I am disappointed after the first loss because there goes the ship.

For sure want this new coach to succeed and will not be too depressed if they replicate the 4-8. I want to be pleasantly surprised, not let down by the type of ridiculous expectations that had them winning 8-9 games last year. How was the worst defense TN has ever had going to get better without its best players but strapped with the same coaches?

vs. WV - Toss Up.
vs. ETSU - Win
vs. UTEP - Win
vs. Florida - Toss Up
@ Georgia - Loss
@ Auburn - Loss
vs. Alabama - Loss
@ SCar - Toss Up
vs. Charlotte - Win
vs. UK - Win
vs. Mizz - Win
@ Vandy - Win

6 wins. 3 losses. 3 toss ups.

Anything from 6-6 to 8-4. We will lose at least one of the toss ups. The bad thing is that talent wise at the skill positions we should only lose three ballgames. If we had a healthy offensive line, predicting 9 wins would be a lot easier. I expect the linebackers to be much better.:rock2:
