Happy with this years results(sweet and sour feel though) will next years team be expected to at least get to the sweet 16 because we will be more mature and playing some great recruits or do some of you feel we will be no better off next year than this year.

if we are not a better team next year, i would say we have a bad coach.

i think bruce pearl is a great coach.

therein lies your answer.

If Lofton returns, which most people think he will, then I don't see why we shouldn't believe we are better off.

We will be exponentially better next year. Dane's intangibles will be missed, but we should be so much more talented next year.

That depends. They lose at least 2 of their starters(Lewis and Harris) and I'd say they will lose Oden. I don't think any of their other players will jump. They have a very solid class coming in as well so it should be good.

The determining factor is that we get it at TBA this year. Obviously, we aren't an easy win at home(2 losses at home in the Pearl era).

Look at how much Childress has improved. Now, Ramar, Tabb, Crews, and Chism have an offseason to get better.

I wish people would get off of the size issue. Yeah, we will be small, but that is how it goes in CBP's style. You don't find many 7 footers that can run the floor well enough to play in this system. It really neutralizes size. Either way, we should have 2 players that are 6'8"+ in the game most of the time which is enough.

How do you guys think the road performance will be. I don't want to see disgraces like what we saw against USC this year.

They have an offseason as does the rest of the team. Howell, Lofton, J. Smith, Childress can all improve. So can the newcomers.

We should be a whole lot better on the road. I think we are really gonna concentrate on FTs which would have given us about 5-7 more wins this year with a decent %. The FTs and inexperience killed us on the road(and the Lofton injury).

I read that J. Smith, R. Smith, Lofton, and Crews dedicated themselves to FTs as the year went on and they really improved. They just need to follow suit in the offseason as does the rest of the team.

As for the road nonconference games, not sure yet since the schedule won't be made out for months.

I see no reason why Chism can't be at least a decent FT shooter. His form is consistent, good rotation, and a pretty soft touch. He just needs to dedicate himself to getting better at it. Same with Childress.

Crews...I don't see him ever being a good FT shooter. His motion is too herky jerky, and his shot is flat. He looks like he's shooting a medicine ball.

Lofton is good. Ramar could be great if he were a good FT shooter, I thought he improved over the season a little. JaJuan has gotten significantly better every year since he arrived at UT. I think he can be an 80% FT shooter.

One of my friends in middle school against our rival went 0-8 on free throws in one game and was dismal over the course of the year. He spent time working on it, and by his freshman year was hitting 70%.

Crews was lucky to shoot 25% at the start of the year. As the year went on, he was shooting around 66%.

Amare is 6'10" and Howard is 6'11". That's seven foot.

They didn't play in college; I'm just saying those are two big men that could play Pearl's style.
