New O-Line, same QBs, losing a lot on D. Spike's Dad has recruited well, and hopefully this class doesn't bolt, but we are have at least one more season after this of being rotten.

I think we will be WAY better next year. Lets face it, out online is average. So what? We have more average players to replace them: our D will be fine with same level of talent. Our WRs will be developed more and so will our QB play. And oh yeah, a stud named JALEN HURD.

Yeah,it's not gonna matter that the players will have a whole year to understand the offense/defense better.

Historically, Butch's teams are better in year 2. Sometimes the difference is pretty significant.

Think we will be better next season, Butch's 3rd yr we should really be at the competing with everyone stage and yr 4 hopefully starts UT really being back. Yea we got Oklahoma on the Road and GA and USCe but overall nowhere near as bad of a schedule as this yr. Oklahoma isnt on Oregon's level, but Utah St is better than the other 3 OOC teams we have this yr. Hopefully we get a few JUCO DL guys this class and all the FR starting this yr will only get better. Really cant see Worley starting by the Ala game this yr muchless next year, think by next season at the latest we see Ferguson or Dobbs as the future, guessing Ferguson. Hope we get to see him getting some game experience soon and not having to try and develop him or Dobbs next season. Nothing better than real life game experience and sounds like at the very least Fergs and Dobbs will get more practice reps this week.

We go to Oklahoma next year. They are not impressive this year and trying to figure out their QB situation as well, but should be back to normal next year. They run the no huddle offense as well.

I understand why OP and others think this is the case. We're so used to players not progressively getting better over their tenure at UT. I can only name a dozen players over the last several years that I saw great improvement from in their debut performances vs final games. I really think next year we will start to see CBJ doing more with less, if we don't already begin to see that later this season.

Exactly. Hell look at Saban's first yr at Ala. He went 7-6 and lost to La Monroe, just takes time to get guys to buy in, gain their trust and figure out who wants to be there and who doesnt and also getting you're own guys in there. Our future under Jones has unlinited potential!

We will be better next year. Improve in every position except OL and interior DL. I also don't think the drop off in either position will be as significant as some think

So understanding the system more will cancel the senior class/early NFL draftees leaving? If(?) they are a .500 team now, how is it they are going to be better than that next season? Do some of you think Hurd and Paulk are that good that they will be able to run in a new system (to them) better than Neal and Lane do now, and do it with a new O-line? Is that what you are saying?

I think we will be better. You'll see a large jump at the skill positions with the WRs having a year of experience and adding Hurd and Paulk.

And I'm really really excited about the talent in the secondary and the speed we'll add at LB.

The lines will be fine IMO.

Not so fast, this year's not nearly over with so I wouldn't be making any predictions just yet.

All programs have graduations/ players leaving early. The difference is that we now have a competent coach to improve the players that are left.

We have a good chance to start out 3-0 next year if we survive Utah State and get past Oklahoma. That would give us a lot of positive momentum heading into the season.

You do realize we have some talent on Oline remaining. The staff loves Weisman and all accounts are Marcus Jackson is redshirting I believe. And Crowder has drawn praise as a very solid center.

I'm not bothered by the fact that we are going to suck again next year. I'm worried about recruits decommiting...

And if Jalen Hurd doesn't perform to the level of Trent Richardson or Marcus Lattimore next year many of the posters on here that are already labeling him as the savior will be saying he is overrated, lacks speed, lacks intelligence, gives up, yada yada yada.

Some of you guys continuously set yourselves up for disappointment with these ridiculous expectations you have for 18 year old freshmen. As always, it's going to take time and Rome wasn't built in a day. The last regime didn't even lay the foundation, so it is going to take a while longer. Get a dose of realism, level set your expectations and enjoy the good times when they come. Otherwise, many of you guys are going to just be miserable.

If UT finds a QB...the answer is yes. If not, no.

Next year's o-line will have a full year of Lawson conditioning and ingrainment in this offensive system...Marcus Jackson and Dylan Weisman will be beasts and mainstays...the remaining spots will be filled by less physically talented players, but the unit as a whole will not only be serviceable...BUT ELITE I don't have as much conviction about the rest of the offense, but I feel both Dobbs and Ferguson are worthy of optimism and possible future stars...Jalen Hurd will revolutionize our running back position and Paulk will be just merely outstanding...Sorry to interrupt the cutting session...commence dealing with said pain and turmoil :cray:
