Actually, it was one of Vol Fans greatest moments, it proves that we matter, and that we make a difference, we charted a different course, even though it didn't work out initially with "cornbread" we can be proud of it now. I have no regrets. I feel sorry for fan bases who have no backbone, no spine. Instead, we said, "We're made as heck, and we aren't going to take it anymore!"

I agree… BUT… I did not like that we tried to use the Sandusky thing to justify it. That wasn’t cool. Schiano was innocent of all that.

We didn’t want to replace Butch with a .500 coach, we wanted someone better. That’s what this was really about. Using the Sandusky case and acting like that was our main concern was low class.

The greatest moment led to the hiring of the biggest catastrophe in TN football history that will likely lead to probation and possibly vacated victories that will allow Georgia to jump TN in the all-time wins? Interesting. Schiano would have recruited better, not lost to GSU, not had the program placed on probation, and left the program in so much better shape for the next coach.

You’re missing the point. No one said it was our greatest end result.

I don’t care about class when it comes to throwing things on the field during the ole miss game. If you don’t want that to happen, don’t spend 4 hours pissing off the fans.

I do care about us dragging Schiano’s name through the mud. I felt terrible for him, imagine being him and having to see that unfold. He probably thought he had finally moved on with his life and away from his association with Jerry Sandusky, until we used it as a weapon to avoid getting a .500 coach.

I never bought the protests were the deciding factor in all that.

Seems more likely given all the chaos, intrigue and competing egos in the UTAD at that time, it was more likely the result of some people's whose opinions matter becuase they are backed up with cash not wanting Schiano. The protests just provided cover for that star chamber decision.

I didn’t see any “dragging”. WE said “no!” Calling us out for not sitting down and taking it brought up the uncomplimentary conversation. He’d dealt with failure on a much grander scale. The millions of dollars salves all wounds. Football…

No, that was the point. The fans got what they wanted(not hiring Schiano) and it ended up leading to the end result. Very few weren't happy about getting Pruitt over Schiano. Now they complain when they got what they wanted.

…..and would have been just barely good enough to hang around four or five seasons with constant promises of future improvements while simultaneously forever destroying all of the program‘s relationships with all of the football programs in the state due to his well documented toxic personality
No thanks. The program needed an enema. And if Pruitt did nothing else, all lest he provided THAT 😉

Enough about Schiano.Do you actually think that a college assistant coach would have no idea what would be going on in and about your own lockerroom?Goes right along with the now U.S. Rep.from Ohio or Indiana not having any idea that the doc was abusing tons of players, including his wrestlers.Play head in the sand all you want, these things do not wash.

Bad logic, brother. I bolded the part where you made the illogical leap.

At the time we were protesting a potential Schiano hire, no one was thinking about Pruitt. His name hadn't even come up.

What we wanted at that point in time was simple: not Schiano. We did indeed get what we wanted, and we are all very happy with that result. To this day, we are still very happy with not getting Schiano.

Fast forward from there a week or three, to when Fulmer hired Pruitt. Did some of the folks who earlier protested Schiano want Pruitt? Maybe. Did some not want Pruitt? Probably. But whichever way they felt about Pruitt, they all agreed on one thing: not getting Schiano was (and remains, to present) a good thing.

Period.

What “racist language” did the guy use? I’m sorry but so many snowflakes coming out nowadays and calling every little thing “racism”, yet hardly truly understand the word. So tired of it. It’s perpetuated honestly by people like college professors, political figures, and the predominantly liberal media who will sell anything that sells, true or not. I’m not saying this soccer cat ain’t racist, heck maybe he is. I really don’t know cuz I don’t watch the sport that much, but it’s HARDLY the same thing. Not. Even. Close. Not comparable on any level when you talk about a guy staying hush when children are being violently abused by a monster. Raped in the friggin football facility showers. He knew the accusations, and barely said anything, IIRC.

He yelled something mean to a North Macedonian player and it was about his Albanian heritage. What was said? His mother was a hamster and your father smelled of elderberries? Who knows.
