Next Season Schedule (SEC)

I see 8 loseable games: 7 from conference play plus Ga Tech. I also see 12 winnable games (although I have a tough time envisioning a win at A&M). Neither 4-8 nor 12-0 is going to happen, though, so...

Bold prediction: we will be somewhere between 5-7 and 11-1.
Bold? That's just stupid! (Besides 11-1.)

SoS is a myth now. the only thing that matters is this:

1. create a really huge P4 conference of 18-20 teams
2. make sure only 2-3 teams are ever really any good
3. avoid playing those teams at all cost
4. walk into the playoff

The Big 10 already beat us to that blueprint. Pretty pathetic that they'll only have three teams (at most) in the playoff unless the "committee" works its magic. And Notre Dame, who pretty much plays a Big 10 type of schedule, will walk into the playoff.

GT is losing their QB also. He is 80% of their offense. If you watched the Wake Forest game you wouldn't have much fear of GT. Bobby Dodd isn't a very tough place to play.

Fair on losing King. Mediocre quarterback but a great football player. Didn't watch their game against Wake but the little I have seen of them, they are well-coached. If we don't defend the outside run better next year, they could still give us problems.

Silly take. Like the kid or not he is a huge reason they are winning games.
I think they benefitted most by bringing in Pavia and his coach and their 2 other best players off NMS and meshed them with a SEC team. That should be a coach's mindset when doing portals. If he could find a group portal of players and a coach with a great winning chemistry. Look what Indiana did hired Cignetti and he brought all the top players from a very good JMU team and meshed them with the good players on a B1G team and has had two back to back 10+ win seasons at a Basketball school.. This should be considered if we could get a D coach and he persuade his 2 or 3 best D players with eligibility to come with him in a NIL deal. I say put feelers out there with money bags.

Notre Dame plays a semi partial ACC & Service Academies teams Army/Navy/Air Force plus USC west schedule. They usually have 2 games they could lose and they lost them both this year and they are usually 50/50 with USC. So with 2 losses yearly they are a lock and when it goes to 16 teams they will be the 1st team to make it with 3 losses bank it.

Well, not what we wanted vs. the Sooners (Who I can't find any reason to hate, good for them!). Likely NOT going to make the CFP, and I was looking for our schedule next season.

We get to host:
Bama
Auburn
Kentucky
LSU
Texas
We have to visit:
Arkansas
South Carolina
Texas A&M
Vanderbilt

I don't know... the road schedule is tough with Texas A&M and Arkansas. Other than that, we got this.
9-0

getting KY and Vandy every year is a plus. I think Lee moves on this year. With all the positions open, a bigger program is going to want him. I can see him going to AU or ever LSU if they can't get Kiffin
Even with Lee at the helm, Vandy will not be a formidable opponent without Pavia.

Should be at least 7 wins. Heupel should not lose to a first year head coach from a struggling program in year 6. The losses I could see would be Alabama (because we spot them pick sixes, scoop and scores every year) and maybe A&M.

We've been choosing an away game to go to every year (although missed this year) and trying to decide between A&M and USCjr. Will probably choose A&M but has anyone been to both and have an objective point of view?
A&M far and away better than USCjr. The tradition and facilities stand out. Be sure to visit the Hall of Honor, honoring 8 Medal of Honor recipients from A&M, located in the student center and take the time to tour the rest of the campus. Great fans and great experience. I played golf at the Golf Club at Texas A&M on Friday afternoon before the game. There was a steady flow of private jets coming in for the game. It's my favorite SEC venue outside of Knoxville.

They didn't play Wake Forest at home. But as you watched their game against Clemson in September, I bet you were saying, "Wow, that's a tough place to play!"

Anyone who watched us against Arkansas thought we weren't very good, either. Turns out they weren't too far off-base.

I'm going with the mindset of our resident respectable Gator fan here. I'm starting at 0-12. That way, every win is that much more enjoyable.

Thanks for the inspiration, LW. Go Vols.

I don't think Clark Lea is going anywhere.
If he's looking to move, now is the time. He's a solid HC, but he caught lightning in a bottle with Pavia. Plus the number of P4 openings (with probably at least a couple more to come) favor a move this year.

He's a Vandy alum, so if he elects to stay I can respect that. He doesn't strike me as the kind of guy to chase a contract, so...
