5-7 last season. 7-5 this season. Auburn, Bama, Florida, LSU, and Ole Miss all playing in "better" bowls than us. Alabama just defeated Florida for the SECCG....

Yet the target is still on Kiffin's back. Nice.

I love the witch hunt on Kiffin, it just amazes me. All schools use hostesses.

This guy pretty much says he shouldn't be writing. Read his info to the right...compares himself to the Chicago White Sox.

I am usually one to more often than not defend the Times. When your the biggest, you have more people digging. That holds true for the Times and it holds true for SEC schools. However, this article is indefensible. First, it uses some very shady sources, particularly a commit to a rival school. The use of quotations in this article is awful. The quotes add nothing to the article, and Lattimore's is quite possibly the worst vetting of a source I've ever seen. No self respecting journalist would use any of those quotes, but his in particular. The second issue is that he argues that the number of secondary violations is the cause of this, yet fails to mention that Tennessee's total is in no way a statistical anomaly. Plenty of SEC school have racked up secondary violations, in many years, more than TN.

Witch Doctor say UF AD fed this guy..all to come out later
It's obvious as heck that someone fed it. As of this morning, UTK still did not have a copy of the written notice that the NCAA is required to provide. It's possible that a recruit who was interviewed by an NCAA investigator is the leak or the NCAA itsself, but IMO it is much more likely that the person who initiated the complaint with the NCAA is the one who fed the NYT reporter.

I wonder what kiffin's responses will be. When the media gets their access to him at the bowl game?

Witch Doctor say WHEN this passes we should all "blow up" the NYT's blogs and expose this guy for the "Jerry Springer" writer he is....read some of his prior comments about Kiffin in other stories he has written...Shameful at best

Sounds to me like someone who is trying to start up a bad rumor to scare recruits away from our beloved UT..Naughty naughty.

I wonder if they can sue for slander?....Where is Lawgator when we could actually use him?

Slander is spoken. Libel is written. It could be libel if the story is false. I guess we will see if there is fire with this smoke.

Bones never lie. :)

Can UT file a lawsuit for falsely reported information?

NYTimes Article said:
Tennessee Athletic Director Mike Hamilton confirmed that an investigation was under way but declined to elaborate. “Typically, we do not comment on inquires that are in progress,” he said Tuesday night in New York.

This was also in the article, for what it's worth. If he said it publicly... then obviously the NCAA is doing something. The "raids" were conducted earlier this week, as per the article. If he didn't say it, I'd say the NYT just got themselves in trouble.

I thought that the NCAA kept it's investigations and findings secret until the total investigation was concluded? This definitely stinks of something.

Serious question about the author of this hit piece. If he is a gator alum, and a donor, making him a booster and these allegations turn out to be false.... can UF be hit for recruiting violations?

Hello Volnation first post here.
Didn't know where to to put this so I put it here.
Was reading ajc article on Hutson Mason recruiting and in the comments section someone mentioned a possible investigation into UT and recruiting at North Gwinnett High School. I thought nothing of it until Chip Towers replied that he was looking into it. Has anyone heard anything?
Go Vols

Hutson Mason may reveal college choice on national TV | AJC College Sports Recruiting

The above was posted, in the JaWuan James James is Officially a UT Vol thread last night on Page 15. So the AJC mentioned it last night, but the NYT "broke the story" today...
