Several new walk-ons joined the team when classes started last month including Logan Cavender (6-2, 215, Fairview, TN), a transfer from Tenn. Tech who redshirted there last fall. He was a 2-time 3A all-stater at Fairview HS who racked up 125 tackles, 16 TFL & 15 sacks his senior year (2011) and was named the top linebacker at the Alabama MVP Camp in Prattville, AL in April '11. According to the Scouts.com website, scouts at the camp said, “Cavender won this award for his consistency and hard work. At 6-foot-2, he has the type of length that schools look for at the LB spot. He did really well in coverage, showing the athleticism to match up with top RBs. (He) put on a show in drills.”

Cavender has a good frame and appears to be a real headhunter on film:

FWIW, Cavender's last name is misspelled in his UT bio above.

Yeah it may be getting old to you hearing it. But it is really getting old to me watching a team run a read option without a running QB. It will not work against SEC defenses period. I love my vols, I support this coach 100 percent. But you are fooling yourself if you do not think we need a dual threat QB.
