"New" UT fans....

My husband used to be a Miami Hurricanes fan. He used to be a Spurrier fan too..not the gators. He just liked Spurrier for some weird reason. I guess that's because he grew up in Connecticut where there really was no college football.
He said he always liked the Vols too, but after his first game at Neyland Stadium, he was hooked! Now he is a die hard Vols fan! :yahoo:

Spurrier is like Pearl... or I should say Pearl is like Spurrier. If you have him as your coach you love him. If you don't, then you hate him. I personally respect the hell out of that man and think he is one of the best coaches in the game (was there ever really an argument) and if he ever wanted to, given the opportunity (he wouldn't) I wouldn't mind him coming to coach here.

Spurrier coaching at UT is pretty close to being blasphemous. I grew up with an absolute hatred towards Spurrier even though I lived near Johnson City, where he grew up. Although I don't really hate the man, and I do respect him as a coach, I would never want him as our coach.

It would never happen.... but the man can flat out coach. I have no problem cheering for him if he were to see the light (and dollars) and coach for UT.

I think maybe his dislike of TN goes way back to when he was being recruited to play college football, and TN didn't recruit him. Maybe that has something to do with his attitude towards us. Regardless, I guess if he did coach here we would still love him...as long as he was winning.

I think his attitude towards is us isn't really that (it could be a small part of it), but he's spent almost all of his time as a head coach in the SEC East. He is just pushing our buttons. He likes to get a rise out of the other schools fans and he always did it to TN especially because he lived here for a long time, and we were UFs main competition in the SECE during the years of both UT and UF dominance. Bruce Pearl is just like Spurrier. He's doing what Spurrier did to UT with UK.

And I have a feeling Spurrier would win. I said it once already, and I will say it again. The man can flat out coach.
