New Student Tickets Process

I agree. It's certainly better than the lottery system and more fair to all students than when Orange Nation controlled the good seats. I think it sounds more confusing than it actually will be. And it eliminates the long lines at the UC.

Seems pretty fair to me. I'm not sure what type of procedure other schools use, but this doesn't seem too bad.

This sucks. I want my season tickets. I dont want to pay 20 dollars for every SEC home game and 10 dollars for every other home game.

How are you fighting to get tickets to home games?

The loyalty points. Because this is my first year at UT, even though I'm a junior, I'll be at the bottom of the totem pole.

This year the loyalty points are based off of credits students have at UT.

I don't like how it favors freshmen who have easier class loads that can go to the vollyball games to get more points for seats.

I don't like how it encourages skipping classes to go see swim meets to get more points.

I don't like how it disadvantages students with jobs or larger loads.

I don't like that I can't go ahead and buy tickets in advance.

I don't like that I can't see where my seats will be before buying the tickets.

I don't like how it doesn't bode well for good "first experiences" for students who maybe have never been to a game before, and will likely get stuck in the nose bleeds when they give it a go.

I don't like how a group's points are "averaged together," making it actually a burden to try and get someone who doesn't normally go to the games to go.

I don't like how the students were not really consulted on this.

I don't see what attending a volleyball match has to do with my being worthy to have decent seats at a football game.

I don't understand what was wrong with last year's distribution method.

I don't understand what was wrong with the year before last year's distribution method.

I can't help but feel like they are just finding ways to squeeze out a few more bucks from students.

If you are going to have a point system, why not factor in seniority and GPA?

I didn't see where it said that it takes in consideration all sports games you attended into loyalty points. Is that how it works?

This basically sums it up as well as anyone will

By the wording, I guarantee you they will have other athletic events as "opportunities" to gain points.

I just finished up undergrad this past spring and am currently in grad school....bring on the loyalty points!!

If they count undergrad credit for those of us who went here and are now in grad school, I'll be on the 50 yard line, first row.

But somehow I doubt they will.

It doesn't say on the site that a student can attend other sporting events and earn points. Only mentions football.

Loyalty Points – A system of Loyalty Points is being instituted this season to help promote attendance at athletic events. The points will be used to help determine ticket availability and seat assignment. The primary method for obtaining points is through attendance at specified athletic events.

Doesn't say football games. It says "events."

That's what I am looking at. I'll happily eat crow if what I have predicted doesn't come about. But I am 99 % sure it will.

Earning Loyalty Points
The primary method of earning Loyalty Points is through attendance at home football games.

Either way, it's still more fair then when I was there, which some guy who didn't give two shyts could walk in the UC days after distribution started and land better seats than the first in line Thursday morning.

I disagree. Random is the very definition of fair. What you want is "just." I don't think this way is any more "just," and potentially less so.

I did see where it said the "primary way" was through football games, but i didn't put a lot of stock in that because on the same page it said this year it will initially be based off of credits. I expect that about once or twice a week, there will be a lesser athletic event worth points and that by the end of the season, those events will have effectively stratified the seating.

But everyone had the exact same chances.

Eh, semantics. I know what you mean in any case.

I hate this system. What happens if I have work one weekend. From then on I will always be behind and also what happens if you get nose bleed for the first game. That means your probably styck with those all year. Its a way for hamilton to get rid of student seats.

Students that constantly get nose bleed will stop going. People aren't going to pay to see ohio or memphis. He will see open seats and wham student seats are taken over and sold.

I've been at UT awhile and I still can't believe we have to pay. We went from free tickets to I believe the highest tix for students in 2 years. All in all this is a system to help those that have no life so they go to swim meets and lacrosse crap. Stuff no one goes to. Its a terrible system because once your behind you can never get on top.

I personally like the old method from two years ago, because I knew if I got to the uc early enough that I was guaranteed a ticket. This no longer seems to be the case.
