Obama 50
McCain 47

Rasmussen Reports: The most comprehensive public opinion coverage ever provided for a presidential election.

Alright, now this could very well show the race as tightening, or it could just be statistical noise, as they put it. However, Rasmussen is one of the pollsters I actually trust (along with Quinnipiac, Selzer, and a couple more) so if this continues over the next few days I will buy the McCain camp's assertion that the race is "***tionally tied."

On the flip side, however, Obama is still polling strongly in key battlegrounds like New Mexico, Colorado, Virginia, and Ohio. So, the national polls may not mean a damn bit.

if the tape that the LA Times has comes out by Saturday, McCain wins...imo

Between Obama's skin color and massive turnout, I don't think anybody knows how accurate these polls are.

This election is going to be close....very close.

There will be no double digit wins.

I'm seeing very little in the way of reasonably objective material and polling at this point to suggest that the race is "close...very close."

this long-touted tape, if it exists, has been pretty well debunked in absentia, I think. For one thing, Michelle Obama has never given a talk of any kind at that church. This much we know. Is this the "tape" your talking about?

no, only 2 days...but still I think these Obama's a terrorist claims have shown very little teeth and have largely gotten lost in Palin's silliness. I just think the old Rove-stlye BS tactics ain't gonna work this time around; too many voters are taking note of the stakes.

that is not the claim, but if the people that have gotten him to where he is today, are not important to you...by all means, vote Obama

if they were we 1) wouldn't have 2 candidates that aren't worth voting for and (2) Obama would not be ahead

I'll be danged, pj...it seems we have a difference in opinion. :p By the way, I sure miss VA this time of year...Williamsburg is a dream during the holidays. Here in Memphis, well anyway...lol.

What is happening, as the economy is being pushed off front page news, is that the average person is taking a close look at this guy Obama and seeing him for what he really is.......cotton candy, attractive but no substance and definitely not ready to lead this country in perilous times.

Just as he had difficulty closing in the primaries against Hillary, he is having difficulty closing the deal now. My only concern is if the Acorns and other thug groups have registered (and voted) enough non- citizens that the election has already been stolen from the Republicans.

Races always tighten in the last week or so before the election.

Yeah, because voting for a guy who has been bought over the years by the likes of Charles Keating, Don King, and Bob Arum is so much more palatable.

You would be hard-pressed to find a single presidential candidate from a major party who didn't have links to some shady characters.

None of those men are terrorists or militant socialists and none has any relationship to McCain similar to that Ayers has with Obama.

Obama tosses around terms like 'economic justice' in discussions about the Supreme Court. He talks about silliness like bottom up economics which is pure Marxian.

McCain is an awful choice and I understand why he won't win, but Obama is a historically liberal option. It took an epically bad presecessor to make Obama even remotely palatable. It also took some serious press kid gloves, little background digging for historical Obama info and extensive media cheerleading to make this reality.

I hope for everyone's sake that the choice is immaterial in the long run and he sees very limited crisis, but I wouldn't bet on it.
