If you have a three-syllable nickname then there needs to be a way to shorten it up. JMO

The Pelicans?!? :dunno:

I still say bring the NBA and the Hornets name to Louisville! The Louisville Hornets... :)

Kornheiser brought it up today, would be better if they went with a purple/yellow/green scheme. Current one is too generic.

I still think the Jazz nickname should be returned to New Orleans, it's rightful owner. Then the Hornets nickname could go back to Charlotte, and the Bobcats nickname could go to Utah.

But on this topic, I hate it. The New Orleans Pelicans? It doesn't sound right. I'm not a fan of the name "Pelicans" at all, but if they must use it, they should just call them the Louisiana Pelicans. Or, they could get creative with it like Golden State did, and call themselves the Crescent City Pelicans.

"Jazz" is more appropriate in New Orleans, but is never leaving Utah. They love it (also, Utah does have a somewhat renowned Jazz festival, so it's not completely out of place). The "ZZ"...the WNBA team was the Utah "Starzz"...the Triple-A baseball team is the "Buzz", minor league hockey is the Grizz, the statewide apparel store is called Fanzz, etc. It's fully-engrained at this point.

Also, I hate the Pelicans logo and color scheme. Really lame, IMO
