Have you been living under a rock for the past 10 years?

All the discussion about African-American coaches, not getting a fair shot in college and the NFL.

If they had bypassed him the social justice warriors would be protesting Michigan.

I’m not arguing that he wasn’t the best candidate. I think he’s their best option and certainly qualified.

I was merely pointing out the consequences of what would’ve happened had they gone a different direction in the current socio-political environment.
I don't pay attention to opinionated media and I never seen anything about the color of the skin when they were discussing potential candidates. I think that's mostly inside your head.

I don’t know where some of you are getting your numbers. Or you’re confused and think that his base pay is his only salary. The total deal is 5 years for $27.5 million. His base pay is $500k a year, plus $5 million a year in supplemental pay. Both of those figures increase by 2% each year. He also gets a $500k retention bonus at the end of each contract year. That’s a totally reasonable contract for a first time HC at a place like Michigan.

He deserves a shot and truthfully can you imagine the impact on social media & with recruiting if they hired a white coach, yikes.

Although I am surprised his base salary starts at under $1 million per year at a major program.
Heupel’s base salary is $250k. Most Head Coaches base pay is six figures. Supplemental pay is where they get most of their salary from.

It's not mostly in his head. The opiniated media that you don't pay attention to discusses it quite often.

What “same experience” are you referencing?
I don't know how much experience he has for his career, I'm talking about while at Michigan, as an assistant, and as acting head coach. Not trying to slight him at all, just a general question.

Didn’t take it as a SLIGHT…exact opposite. He’s been an on-field coach for 12 seasons but a coordinator for only 3. It’s a helluva first shot as a HC. If he hadn’t cleaned up in Harbaugh’s stead those last 3 games, I doubt they make this move.

Those contract terms are weird.

He gets $500K salary and a $5 million payment in year one. Plus another $500K bonus if he finishes the year.

The other 4 years he is getting a million if he finishes the season and $500k if he doesn't

Buyout is $5 million and drops each year by a million.

Anybody else think this contract is basically set up for him to get canned after year 2 and Michigan presumably takes care of the NCAA issues.

I'm sure Moore wanted his shot, but this seems like a contract set up to be able to fire you pretty quickly and cheaply.
Where’s jimmy sexton when you need him? (Answer-SEC). Alternative answer: sorry I cannot come to the phone now. Jimbo just fired up the grill on his yacht and we are polishing off the last of the caviar.
