Hey I'm new here to volnation, wish I'd joined under better circumstances.

I've been scanning this board as well as some other sites and I've noticed a common theme. Fulmer's days seem to be numbered. And I hate to admit it: I think it's time for a change. I've took up for Fulmer for so long it's like I did it out of habit. I really believe Fulmer bleeds orange, and is a great guy. I hate to seem him go cause I remember what a breath of freah air he was compared to Majors. (Remember the days of up the middle 3 times and punt?). I think he's a great recruiter but an average coach. He consistently got beat by better coaches with teams that had equal talent to us. As much as I loved the 98 season, It's starting to seem like it was more luck than anything, even though our D was awesome that year. But now the talent doesnt seem to be as great, esp. on both lines.

My question to you all is: who do we get? I've seen a lot of names mentioned but I hate to break it to everyone... Gruden and Cowher will not coach here. So who do we get? I really have no idea.

I'm so sad that it's gotten to this point. I have tickets to the SC game but I'm scared they'll lose that. I think Fulmer's downfall really has been his assitants. Chavis has always been overrated IMO (and I'm mot saying that due to the loss). He likes to blitz and that's it. He was successful cause of players like Henderson, Wilson, etc not his play calling. And while Cutcliffe has done wonders with Ainge, he's a dink and dunk coach, The only time he ever called long throws was with Peyton, Watch some of the old Shuler games you'll see what I mean.

Lastly 2 things: What wa wrong with putting Crompton in? He could have threw it down the field at least. The coaches seem to be stubborn on that point, And wow does this put more pressure on Bruce Pearl. If we don't do well this season in bball I think some fans will riot. Thanks for letting me rant. Go Vols! Maybe we can still turn it around (hey I can hope).

welcome to the board.

imo, crompton showed just how unready he is with his INT that he might as well have hand delivered.

I really don't get why people are acting as if Ainge looked like he was severely limited out there.
Welcome to the board . . . :hi:

I'd love to watch us with a Bo Pelini defense. His Nebraska teams were flat out scary, and his LSU bunch might be better. If he is our coach I hope he finds a good OC.

I surely hope that 27 at the end of your name isn't for Arian Foster. haha jk

He is a disgrace to Al Wilson's number. If Al doesn't get picked up by an NFL team we should bring him in as a motivational consultant. I imagine he could get our special teams straightened out. I'd be scared not to play hard for that man.

Out of that list, the only one I think might is Pelini IMO.

And just noticing some of the other threads I have to comment: No way Fulmer will be fired. Will he be strongly urged to leave? You bet. Look at what Hamilton did to Delmonico. Barring a miracle turn around I'd say there'll be a few discussions about when he should "retire" and he'll have some job at UT in one form or another.

And just as a side note I remeber readong that Fulmer's wife tried to get him to retire after 98 so he could go out on top. He just looks tired and confused now. I think he knows what's coming.

Tired, hell. Phil looks SICK. During the game, he was pasty, and I have to think that some of his post-game comments were due to his being disoriented.
