I don't get all the blind optimism this week. Don't get me wrong, I really hope we win. But every team we have played who can spread us out and throw the ball has torched us. LSU has 3 big wideouts who can run, a good line, and a tight end and h-back who can catch the ball. They have an offensive line that makes Kentucky's look like a middle school's, and with Hester and their bevy of talented backs they run it pretty well too. I really hope all this positive mojo is well deserved and we win, but I am having a hard time thinking positive. Maybe crazy Les will come out and try to run it down our throats like Georgia did and Kentucky tried in the first half, but if he plays it smart and spreads us out I really don't see how we can even hope to match up with them defensively. Someone talk me out of this negative outlook, please.

I think there are plenty of reasons, most notably LSU defense has been a no show lately. Brent Shaffuh was all over them. They just doesn't look like the same team that impressed the nation earlier in the year. In addition they are battling injuries. Then there is the whole momentum thing. Tigers just lost a shot at the MNC, while UT has fought their way into a position to achieve their goals.

Most of it, though, is just optimism over the fact we are playing for SEC champ!

WE GOING TO THE 'SHIP!

Look at the last two games between Tennessee & LSU. LSU had a better team last year, we played them right down to the end with the second string QB.

Add in a little positive momentum from winning in OT
+ A team that lost their chance at a National title
+ They are beat up with injuries to big time playmakers on both sides of the ball
+ Coaching (we have the edge in coaching)

But I advise you to stay negative

Welcome to the board

I look at it like this. Way back in 2001 LSU took something from us in the 2nd half of the SECCG and we have not really recovered since. We have a chance to right the ship from where it went a stray.
To take back what is OURS the SEC Championship.
Although, it would have been much sweeter if they were still #1. But, Revenge is revenge and is a dish best served cold.

About the match up, i really dont like how our DB's match up with their WR's Vinson's injury will be huge.
KY went after Willingham and more times than not won those battles. His play scares me. LSU will score their points and it will be a close game. Flynn has a sore sholder (not sure if its his throwing sholder)
The game will be won or lost with our ability to get inside Flynn's head and get pressure on him he will throw a costly int. And by all means stop Hester. When he lines up at FB you know they are throwing him the ball.
I'm not sure if we will be able to get the running game going against them. We have a great o-line and they must play their best game of the year for us to win. To beat a great front 7 defense you have to go over the top. I would like to see G. Jones on some fly patterns early. Just bomb em baby. Minimize the trick plays this game will be won with power in the middle and speed on the outside. I say UT 42-LSU 38

This TEAM has come to far to lose now. Nearly everyone pretty much expected the worst after bama and we have been suprised week after week after gut wrenching week.
I seriously think we are gonna win and take back our Tennessee-ness from LSU.
I said that after Bama if we win out that it would be a shallow championship i would like to retract that statement and say that this group of guys has played with more heart and emotion than any UT team since 98. I WAS WRONG GUYS. We have a TEAM in Knoxville!!!
Just my :twocents: sorry its so long.
GO VOLS BEAT LSU!!!

Welcome Titanic.

With everything happening in Baton Rouge lately the Vols should be a favorite in this game, and we all pretty well know what that means.

What's the word on Flynn, is he playing?

With Dorsey hurting Foster and Hardesty should have a big game, and the Cottam's play against KY was impressive, so I like TN's chances.

Go Vols.

Our biggest problem would have been how aggressive they would play if Dorsey was healthy. Since he's not, and if they play like they did against Ark, we'll eat them alive. They sat back on their heels and waited on McFadden to come to them. I like our chances too, but anything can happen with this team.

I think that some of my optimism certainly is blind. Most of that lies behind the simple fact that I see this as an opportunity that may not be back for another five years, so I am hoping for the best. In regards to Miles spreading the field, it seems to be against his fundamental nature. Much like Fulmer, he has proven his willingness to live and die between the tackles. He may have a lack of confidence in Flynn.

This UT D certainly managed to turn JP Wilson into an all american for one game, and the same is possible for Flynn. I just don't know if he has it in him. If Perriloux plays we may be in trouble.

I'm certainly not a negavol, I've not been calling for Fulmer's head or anything. In fact I am a first year student at UT and I want nothing more than for the football program to go on one of those 96-99 runs while I'm here. Hopefully we'll get an inspired effort from our guys and a lackluster one from theirs and find a way to pull it out. I'm Titanic because A) I'm a big dude and B) I like the Titans, I guess I'm not very original. Here's to a good game and us scoring one more point than they do.

It would be a great story for Ainge if he can redeem himself against the team that he embarrassed himself against.
