Low is usually better than that. Using Finebaum as a source??

Hmm well lets see.

Nick Saban 3.75 mil/yr
Les Miles 3.75 mil/yr
Urban Meyer 3.4 mil/yr

L.Kiffin 2 mil/yr + M.Kiffin 1.2 mil/yr + E.Orgeron 650k/yr = 3.85 mil/yr

I don't see the problem, it takes UTs 3 highest paid coaches to surpass the salaries of the 3 highest paid coaches in the SEC (only 100k more I might add).

Who cares what the coaches are paid as long as the athletic dept. is self sufficient.I just question the timing of this article considering this info has been out/debated for weeks.Seems like Low is just fishing for a story were there isnt one.

Look at some of the key words in this column...Self funding athletic department...."It's not public money"....Athletic department gave $4.5 M of it's $5 M surplus to ACADEMIC programs...The department spends nearly $1.4 M per year on ACADEMIC scholarships for 2,400 NON-ATHLETES....

"So what" to what Paul Finebaum says...He has a definite anti-Vol agenda....What a source...

Looks to me if our esteemed governor and the president of this university were better at their jobs the state and the university wouldn't be in such bad financial shape...

Why do some people hate that there are actually people and programs out there that are not in a financial bind??..It's just like when you hear people say they hate Wal-Mart...Why??...All they do is create much needed jobs to people in the community they chose to put a store in...They establish competition so prices go down, yet still make money...Success is not a bad thing...

Don't worry about Hamilton...He knows the importance of this deal working out..He knows the football program is the straw that stirs the drink...He knows his future depends on Kiffin and the staff he has assembled winning football agmes and putting rear ends back in the seats of Neyland Stadium....He doesn't need Chris Low or Paul Finebaum's advice on how to run an athletic department....Who cares about how much money the "self-funding" athletic department spends on coaches??....If you can afford it, go get the best so you give the athletes the best chance possible to succeed...

haha why does it matter if the money goes to the HC or to the assistants???? Ohhh no tennessee now has the highest paid assistant coaching staff in the country. The main thing is we are in the middle tier of the SEC for the WHOLE staff's salary. Good God, people are so stupid.

It's all their hair dye that causes them to be anti-VOLS. ESPN issues it by the case. The hair dye leaks into their brains and causes a short.

Grasping for youth.

I have no issues with what UT has done with the coaches salaries and the bottom line is that it is really none of their business what UT chooses to do.

The only concern I have is that it will only take one 10-win season before CLK gets a hefty raise and then how does he get a raise w/out the other coaches and then its game on with inflation. But, to get there, we have to win games and if that's the case then we won't be concerned about their salaries.

You just have to understand the mentality of the Alabama nation, which is where Finebaum makes his living. The evil devil Fulmer is gone and the crying has begun on Lance Thompson leaving for UT and he said he would not talk to recruits he had worked on for Alabama. He was then seen at a school in LA. with Kiffin's staff and it is assumed he was recruiting the same kids. He said he was just introducing the staff to the other coaches. Baum went on and on about how Thompson was ruining his credibility and commiting career suicide and Kiffin was acting like a spoiled 5th grader going around raping everyone's recruiting staff. What a bunch of whiners!
They are real skeered boys! And, in the interest of rating's, Finebaum has managed to move some Fulmer hatred over to Kiffin, seems pretty smart to me if it works! So just suffice it to say, it is still a good thing to hate Alabama!
I have heard him speak on both sides when it comes to TN, so I have to remember that he makes his living talking Alabama/Auburn football in Alabama. My most favorable comment of Finebaums was after a fan called in calling for Fulmers execution over the lawsuit, Finebaum said, well, lets remember this....we did plead guilty to all the charges!

What bothers me even more is that article has been up there for a few days. You would think with all of the news coming out of college football this week, there would be other articles to put on their web page. Especially the headline section.
