New Coach?

If I was Dave I would call Holly, tonight, fire her butt and tell her that her office has been cleaned out and that her stuff has been boxed and set out on the front lawn. I would send the what we needed to buy out her contract and tell her to mail her keys to my office.

I love this post so much! I read it twice because it's very nice and funny. :)

Poor performance buys a year to fix the problems and meet clearly defined goals and expectations. Remember Dooley after 2011?

This doesn't fall under Title IX. This is similar to the three civil suits UT just settled for more than $1M. Title IX is only relevant because that suit has put UT in a negative public light, and Dave Hart has developed a reputation of being unfriendly to women.

It's not paranoia. It's logic and common sense.

It's not logic and common sense. I like Holly. She's dedicated her life to the Lady Vols. But her coaching career has been marked with inconsistencies by losing games she should not have lost. It's culminated into this year, where her team's not only struggling on the hardwood, but she's struggling with recruiting. This idea you get time to fix it, no where is that a written rule. It's not even an understood rule. To think that it is, well, that's just illogical.

And if Holly were to be replaced by another female coach, this "reputation of being unfriendly to women" argument would fly right out the window.

It's one thing to want a change, it's quite another to spew hate. Frustration has set in. I get that. But Holly is not deserving of all the venom flying about. The woman has dedicated her life to the Lady Vols. Respect that. Change can be demanded in a civil way without resorting to name-calling and personal attacks.

Would "like" more but cannot.

Jimmy Cheek and Dave Hart have more to worry about (mainly hanging on to their jobs, with both praying to see the light of 2017) than the LV head-coaching issue. Unfortunately, there's little chance Holly will retire. She's too entitled and proud to go out looking like a total failure, and ego will convince her this season was cursed.

This leaves us with a disgruntled fan base, but not enough at the gates to concern the bean counters (never the biggest worry since the sport has never generated revenue), a bewildered and lost coaching staff and befuddled players. Is there a solution? Since a coaching change won't happen, Holly first needs to fire her best bud, Jolette, and find the best offense-minded assistant available, and please stay away from the Summitt tree. Second, shake up the guards by giving the team to DD the rest of the way. Have her bring the ball up and penetrate, then take that sweet jumper if it's open or dish to the perimeter to Middleton or Dunbar, our best pure shooters. If Graves or Russell are open and aggressive enough to catch the ball, possibly feed them, but no more forced entries.

Yes, my lineup would be ...

DD (1)
Middleton (2)
Dunbar (3)
Graves (4)
Russell (5)

Subs: Meme, Nared, Moore

Sit and bake: Cooper (most overrated recruit in LV history), Reynolds (wasted scholly), Carter (gets worse with each minute played) ... Jones (career up in the air, but when healthy another turnover machine on a team full of TO artists).

Nothing Holly does at this point can be worse than the current record-breaking (all bad) pace. Shake it up and let your only true talent have the team. Sit back, whistle ever so often to appear you're into the action, plan where you and Jolly are eating out with your gal pals and cash your paycheck!

I doubt Holly fires Law when she personally went after her and wanted her at Tennessee. To me the only solution is that the entire staff goes. Even if Holly hires an assistant with a great offensive mind, Holly will be the one walking the sidelines and supposedly making the calls in games. Holly's in game adjustments are terrible, she's not an x's and o's coach, recruiting is at an all-time low, players have basically tuned her out and she gives the fan base no confidence as she continue to look and sound clueless. Elite recruits are NOT coming here with Holly as the coach. I've heard that we've missed out on Elite guards because of this terrible emphasis on just coming down the court forcing the ball to the post players. These recruits are not stupid! I've also heard where AAU coaches have describe Tennessee as dead/history. I would hope that the fan base and boosters express their disappointment because this program is about to be history if Holly returns next season. There's a lot programs that hate Tennessee, I have no idea why, but they are going to use everything possible to recruit against Holly and some of accusations I don't see how she would respond. Holly needs to go! If she says, Tennessee will become irrelevant and we as fans will only be dreaming of the glory days because they will be history.

"Becky Hammon"!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

:rock:Amen! Amen! Amen! Do a "goggle" and read her resume! With her as the LV coach, we could become equal to UConn and send "Geno the Jerk" into retirement:pepper:. Not sure what she is paid as an NBA coach, but she would be worth every penny and more.:clapping:

Someone before is probably correct about 2016-17 and Holly staying. And yes, that is probably going to look pretty ugly for us.

But, IMO, if Hart can't land the home-run hire that this program deserves, then we might as well let her stay. UTAD has painted itself into a financial mess giving her and extension/raise in the first place. Reason #1 - She has shown nothing that says "Wow, we have a top shelf coach". Reason #2 - Everyone else (the market) knows Reason #1. Therefore, her marketability did not command a big buyout / extension. In other words, did we really think someone was going to come hire her away? Not a chance, so keep the frekin' door open as much as the market allows!

Bottom line. Don't hire anybody in a hurry. Get an absolute upgrade and pay them!

She won't resign and give up that money. And if we fire her this year, she will sue for even more money. UT will give her a year to turn things around and meet goals and expectations. Hart's not going to walk into a sure lawsuit.

Explain to me what basis would she have to file suit against UT. She has not done even a mediocre job this year. That alone should be grounds for dismissing her.

Will NEVER happen! Update your Wish list.
