Before we move on from the Syracuse game, I wanted to say that I was in Atlanta and the differences in the two school bands astonished me. Syracuse, which is an old, large, well funded university, had a marching band that looked like a bad high school band compared to the Pride of the Southland. I literally couldn’t hear their band. Volume, precision, class, appearance… we have such a gem in our marching band that adds so much to the gameday experience. Seeing what Syracuse brought really made me appreciate what we have.

I’m one of the old geezers, I guess but, I’m not student body left and student body right old. However, I am old enough to not only enjoy the band but also appreciate it. Ours is good if not great and one of the best in the nation.

Always boast about the POTS - especially because I have a buttload of Nebraska music majors in my family, including a SIL who played for the Husker band. And, bless him, my Southern Cal hubby even admits we're better than his since seeing POTS perform in Nashville when we beat NE - although reluctantly.
