For those of you calling those of us who love UT yet understand we're in deep trouble negative, let me ask you this question. Was the crew member on the Titanic who warned of an on coming ice burg a "nega-titanic" crew mwmber or realistic?

I don't think it is negative at all to say it will very likely be a challenging season for the Vols. When you look at the over all picture, that is being realistic. The ones saying Dooley will fail at UT before he coaches his first game are being negative.

I'm nervous about what could be this year, but again I'm nervous at this time every year.

Go Vols.

Lets hope there are no ice burgs in our way this year.

My thread regarding a 4-8 record proved that our fans have mostly come to accept that 4-8 is a legit possibility, to the point that it doesn't warrant a firing. Guess the majority of our fans count as negavols now

4-8 is the worst case scenario and if we go 4-8 Dooley will have to be ready to answer tough questions all of season leading into 2011. BUT there is still NO WAY he would be gone after a 4-8 season.

Dunno what your problem with Dooley is.

I don't post much but everytime I see a nega thread I see you in it bashing Dooley. You want him fired before he coaches.

He won't be fired even if he goes 4-8

He is guaranteed next season due to the circumstances. There is a reason we had to go to our 5th - 6th option for a head coach.

It is time for you to get used to Dooley because you are going to be seeing him for the next 2 years no matter how bad we do.

The point of me bringing that up was simply to mention how many of our fans showed in that thread that they understood 4-8 could really happen. They're finally where some of us have been since Dooley was hired.

I love the Vols and think they will suprise a lot this season, but the answer to your question... the person that yelled iceberg saw the iceberg coming with his own eyes ( that is realistic )...the people that are being negative toward the season, that is their (opinion) .

personally i believe the Vols will stay afloat this season with 8 or 9 wins :) Go Vols!!!!

We would have gone 4-8 with Kiffin and company with the same players we have now. The only difference with Kiffin would be we have more talent because no one left 2 weeks b4 signing day.

Yes, and the world could end tomorrow.
I believe that many on here believe anything can happen. I prefer to see what happens on the field.
Not, what might happen!
I also wish to believe that 6-7 wins are possible.
Like everyone else on here, we'll just have to wait and see.
GO VOLS!:clapping:

Fair. What about the guy that said, "Wait, you're only going with THAT few lifeboats? I don't think that's such a good idea"?

UT has already hit the iceberg. Now the question should be will Dooley continue to let the ship sink? From what I have seen so far, he will get us afloat and sailing in the right direction. The season starts this week so we will see how Coach Dooley and staff can do the job.

Was just about to say this. The titanic reference is moronic. The crew member had facts backing up his claim. These "realistic" fans are speculating and assuming the worst based on the videos on wbir.com? Please. None of us know what product will be on that field. Period. But don't call yourselves realistic without facts on how they play.

All of this is typical of fandom.

Most people expect a 6-6 record and to lose certain games. However, it won't stop people from complaining even though what they expected comes to pass.

That kind of negativity always frustrates me.

If you expected to lose, why do you asct surprised when you do lose?

People expect to struggle, but prepare for the **** storm when it happens

So you think the sole reason we may go 4-8 is because Dooley is the coach? Who would you have as coach if you were AD?

What would people have thought of a guy telling everyone not to get on board the Titanic before it left port because he thought they'd hit an iceberg and sink?

No he was not a nega-Titanic. He was a lookout and his JOB was to watch for threats to the ship. He basically his job, a bit late though no fault of of his own. The real nega-culprit was the hotshot executive who ordered the ship to speed up despite the captain's preference to not do that. NegaVols are not hired to be disaster notice distributors. But insights into the teams strengths and/or weaknesses is fine. using the team as butt wipe paper regularly ticks true fans off big time.

There is a difference between understanding we're in deep trouble and putting down the team on a CONSISTENT basis.

We can see the amount of lifeboats on the ship going to sea, and we can say that that's incredibly scary in case anything goes wrong.
