It's amazing to me that Bama has a coach like Saban, yet Kiffin gets the label as a brash azzhole that cheats to get what he wants (secondary violations and what not).

Today I had a run-in with a Bammer I work with and all I heard was the same old propaganda about how he cheats with shady recruiting tactics, he's a jerk to his staff, and demands crazy work hours from them. Honestly, I didn't even know how to address such blatant stupidity and hypocrisy. I just shook my head and said "you have been watching too much ESPN" and walked away.

Seriously, what's it going to take to get the same pass that Saban and Meyer enjoy...a national championship? Man, I really hope UT beats Bama or UF this year because I will not be able to handle things at work if we lose to both.

There are good articles about UT and Kiffin here and there, but for the most part, the press is seeing this whole thing as an epic fail. It's irritating, especially when Bammer and gator fans start noticing and ragging me about it.

Is anybody else having to deal with this crap from other fans 3 months removed from CFB season?

I'm not ready to say whether this thing is a fail or not. It's silly to even consider the question before the ball has been snapped even once.

But I will say this: All of this hoopla, all of this talk and circus coming from our head coach, is indeed getting very old.

Another thing: The story coming out of the Athletic Department that this is all part of Lane Kiffin's big public relations plan is utter crap. That this is all a very intentional effort at attracting recruits is false. He is going around sticking his foot in his mouth and that's the story that they've come up with to cover his arse. For now anyway.

Again, I'm rooting for them. I think there is a reasonable expectation that this era of Tennessee football could be a success, but all of this off-season trash talk and general redneckery before the guy has coached a single SEC game is - honestly - beneath the dignity of the program and the university.

Go. Vols.

I know a guy at work you would get along fine with.

it doesn't seem to hurt our recruiting as kids are flocking to UT for a chance to show our guys what they can do. Let our rivals talk as it will make it so much sweeter

I say just keep doing what you're doing CLK

"beneath the dignity of the program?".

That's rich.

College football these days is just overflowing with dignity.

The Gators will win this year. I wonder if Kiffin will pull a LeBron James exit on Urban.

Losing to Wyoming was 'beneath the dignity of the program.'

 my thoughts exactly.....they're all just a tad bit nervous and jealous that our Coach is getting all the attention.

Also, this isn't a Kiffin/Fulmer thing. I'm not critical of Kiffin as a matter of support for Fulmer.

Think of it this way: If one of our opponents was running his mouth before winning a single game, we would pretty call him a joke too.

If the "mouth-running" consisted of an obvious joke that was blown insanely out of proportion, I wouldn't give a rat's ass.

. . . or, say if the "mouth running" consisted of about two comments from 4 months ago?

I don't even remember what the second comment was. Was it the "gas-pumping" comment that was supposedly debunked?

At least we're not discussing a bunch of players having run ins with the law.
I have just about decided that criminal records linger in people's minds for a shorter period of time than a Lane Kiffin comment. I know the guy said a couple of slightly controversial things a few months ago, but it's gotten almost strange the way people just won't let it go.

There was the "I'll report Florida right here" comment after Signing Day. Then there was the gas pumping story and mentioning Bryce Brown by name before he signed. Other than that, the most controversial thing he's done is make an illegal post on Facebook and have some coaches take their shirts off.

How on earth could you omit Pahokee and signing conspirators to felonies, and sundry other things for which he merits firing. We need to find ourselves a choir boy going forward.

as for crazy work hours for the staff. If that's true, then it will be worth it! I mean, the coaches are working hard, but not putting 23 hrs a day in it like this Bammer might think... :eek:lol:
