Hi all. Long time listener, first time caller. Knoxville native, living in Louisville, KY.

Here's my conundrum - During labor day weekend, I will be fishing in Central KY the whole weekend at a friend's fish camp. I know they have a TV, but not cable. I don't know if they have an antenna or anything, but I would assume they'd get a few of the basic channels, right?

If not, I have a laptop and a Verizon wireless card that allows internet access at that locale.

Is the game carried on the Internet somewhere? Checking score updates every 5 minutes won't work either. I must actually see the game in its full glory.

Will I be forced to driving 30 mins to Lexington to see the game in some bar, or is there a craftier way to view the season opener?

Thanks y'all!

Go vols!

The game's on ABC. If the cabin gets over the air stations, you should be fine.

well it's on ABC, so if they get any kind of reception on the TV, you should be able to pick it up on the local ABC station.....

Might want to stop and get a cheap pair of "rabbit ears" at the local hardware store. You can usually get them for around 10-12 bucks. If the TV doesn't have some type of antenna, then you won't get very good reception at all.

If they have the TV, you could also pick up a cheap antenna at Radio Shack to bring with you just to be sure. Gotta make sure you're prepared!

You will have plenty of time to make sure you get ABC. But since it is a later game, I recomend putting on your ORANGE and going into Lexington and show the Colors.

Thanks guys, I had forgotten about rabbit ears. Man, that takes me back a few decades!:)

I will check out radio shack, and test them on a TV at home unplugged from cable.

I need to have a quality-tested system before I head off into the wilderness unprepared.

Thanks again!:good!:

Make sure if you get an antenna..it is a POWERED antenna that plugs in....those pick up 100% better than a non powered on that you just clip on the back kinda thing

Better yet, reschedule the fishing trip to the following weekend and catch both the Cal and Florida games on cable tv with great reception and nice cool airconditioning.

Thats kinda the way I was thinking....I have canceled major plans before just because they fell on a UT Football game day....You can go fishing anytime really....But the season opener against Cal?....hmmm...Id have to postpone the fishing

I once missed a wedding the day of the Florida-Florida State game.

We later photoshopped me in with my bride. Worked out okay. Gators won.

I have a ten month old daughter, which has made fishing nearly impossible past 10 months. Long labor day weekend, babysitter lined up, buddies ready to go fishing, etc. - that is almost as rare as a season opener.:banghead2:

Bear with me here, I'm trying to have my cake and eat it too!:peace2:

*Note - I purchased an antenna from radio shack this afternoon. Tested it out at home and it got tons of channels. I'm going to have to make a recon trip to fish camp to see how it works in the sticks of central kentucky. (insert fingers crossed smiley).

If you cant get a signal, try abcsports.com...I know some of the local affliates here will broadcast special events (like UT home openers) live on their webpage ( I got to watch the UT-LONG BEACH game from my desk at work last march).

Good luck!

get the antenna for your trip and when you get back, take it back to the store and ask for your money back:crazy:

Yeah, in case this is the last time you ever go fishing out there. Those once in a lifetime fishing trips shouldn't be made more expensive by a rabbit ear antenna.....

As hot as it has been in the Bluegrass, I cannot imagine the bass biting as early as labor day. Where exactly is the fishing camp? If it is Harrington, you are going to have your work cut out for you. Good luck.
