I am wanting to get a game system for my grandchildren to play when visiting , boys 7 and 8. I also want one that I can watch some of the pay per view/ blackout games.

What is my best option?
Thanks in advance for any help offered.

360 its only console with espn 3 so that would be the only choice. Have to have xbox live gold subscription though.

Ps3. Graphics are just as good. Better exclusive games like God of war. Free Online. Better controller. PS3 is the way to go. Not to mention the smaller chance of a system failure. And Blue Ray.

Ps3. Netflix, blu ray, the controller would be better for younger kids. No way to watch black out games though. 360 Is just total crap. Bearcat approves this post

If the game is blacked out it doesn't matter what system you have. The convenience of ESPN 3 for the games not blacked out & the kinect are the only pros for Xbox 360.

Xbox 360 is further along, and is just going to widen the gap. ESPN3. TV on your xbox within the year. Hulu plus. Netflix. FB. Tons of amenities and the gameplay for each is close to equal. Though I do prefer the xbox controller and multiplayer.

Just curious but do you have to subscribe to Xbox live in order to use ESPN 3?

There isnt a console made that allows you to play "blackout games". The 360 has ESPN3 if your ISP provides it and if you pay for the gold xbox live subscription.

So if your grand kids don't play online would it be worth it for 1 or 2 games a year.

Thank everyone for your response.

From the responses, I am going to forget trying to watch the blackout games.

I am thinking for a 7 and 8 year old, the PS3 with a few games may be the better option, and I can also use it as a blu-ray player.

There isn't a bad choice. I have both systems and enjoy them equally.

If bluray is your thing then its an easy decision for you. Both systems have kid friendly titles.

I would just buy an actual Blu Ray player. PS3 controller is made of cheap plastic and it feels like it will break in your hands while you play.

I'd still agree though. If it's something that your grandkids will play a couple of times a year, I'd just get that since the online is free and the controller is fitted to a child's hand.

Nah, the 360 controller is meant for a mans hand. PS3 controller is a much better fit for a child's hand. It is very lightweight and small.

It's for his grandchildren. It will fit into their hands better since Sony molds their controllers to children's hands. It's a fact, go look it up.

So you're saying it's for a child's hand?
