We have been discussing heavily the need our team has at QB and at OL, and for good reason, but we are also going to be hurting at TE next year. After this year we lose Cottam, and Stocker will be a Senior after this season, leaving him and Ben Bartholomew (who is a converted TE from FB) as the only scholarship TE's next year. Other than Brian Vogler, who else are we recruiting as our next big TE?

It's definitely not the deepest class of TE's in history. The pickings are kind of slim. I think we are banking on Dakota Mosley. I think Vogler goes to Bama. Don't be surprised if the coaches identify some guys that can really play that are under the radar.

Will Kiffin's system use the TE more than Fulmer's did?

Witten was the only TE CPF ever really used as a receiver.

I cant remember the kids name (fred davis maybe?) but on the USC team that lost to texas they threw to the TE quite a bit that year.

Yeah, This offense is for big WR, and Kiffin will use a TE alot. That is why I am so high on Brian Volger, he fits this style of offense to a T. Stocker could have a breakout year too (if he can catch, he had the nickname "stonehands stocker" on the team last year)

Yea I forgot about Mosley, but he's about 6'4 252, isn't that close pretty big to be a TE for being so young? Volgler obviously would be ideal because of his size, but if Mosley is the guy they want, let's get him! (and Dyer, too...)

It is odd that Kiffin said he would us the TE more in his system, but we have only gone after relatively few TE prospects.

UT is trying to get Mosley and Dyer as a package deal. Dyer is in good with Auburn and the Hogs, but I know our staff will stay on him.

slim pickings maybe?

There were no indications, that they pushed hard for a commitment from Zaccheus Mason last year, who was an in-state kid. It wasn't like Tennessee was battling Ole Miss for a Memphis kid; he was in Nashville.

Can anyone with more knowledge of recruiting give me some more info on some of these other TEs that are considering us such as: Christian Thomas, Blake Barker, Trey Millard, Travis Dickson, Harrison Jones, Charles Fashaw, Kevin Haplea, Kendall Montgomery?
All of these guys are listed as having interest according to Rivals, but a lot of them don't have offers from us yet either apparently.

We are not pursuing Jones at all, Christian Thomas will likely stay in Cali, we haven't looked too much at Barker, Millard, Fashaw yet. I haven't heard anything on Montgomery. The name to really pay attention to on there is Travis Dickson. His stock has recently went through the roof. Right now we trail, Miss St., Ole Miss, and LSU, but I expect UT to make a run at him before it's all said and done...

TJ was right on the kid from Cinci. He is a guy to watch out for especially since we have Mitch Browning on board and with UT going after Hicks hard. As for Mosely, he won't be a TE. He's too slow. He may turn into a solid OL though...
