Hey guys
Making my first trip from TX to see the Vols play Vandy this year. If you are wondering why Vandy..my wife and I are college volleyball coaches and will be in season. I have an opportunity for seats on row 1 section Y9 or 50 yardline section TT row 5 or below. What do you guys think about those seats and which would be better in your opinion. We are also driving up the Thursday before the game and I was curious of any recommendation on hotels. I am not looking for something cheap..prefer something nice and in a good location. We will have all day Friday to look around..so just curious if anyone had any suggestions on what we could do Friday.

I have also heard parking is a problem..so what should we do there?

Also what are all of the pregame stuff you think we should attend..I am assuming the Volwalk.

Sorry for all the questions..just want to make our first trip to a game a memorable one!

I'd take section TT in a heartbeat. Down that low in Y9, depth perception will be a problem.

There are a ton of places to stay. Just book early and avoid Gatlinburg/Pigeon Forge like the plague.

Park in the Gay Street deck across from Calhoun's and get there early so you can walk to the other side of the stadium in time for the Vol Walk.

If you want to see the game, sit in the first 5 rows of TT. Even though it's upper deck, the view will be excellent. Those seats at the bottom of Y9 down low in the back of the endzone are great as long as the ball is inside the 20 on your end of the field. Any other time they're awful.

I'm partial to the Crowne Plaza. You park your car there and then walk across Market Square and catch a trolley to and from the stadium. It's the most no hassle way to go to a game that I have found.

Agree 100%

If you are going lower deck you need to be at least 20 rows up for a good view of the whole field, anything in the first 15 rows of the upper deck is quality seating.

If you want to, but there's free trolley you can catch if you walk about 100 yards.

It's also a short walk to the stadium and even a shorter walk to the trolley.

Thanks... I appreciate your help..not sure which to do...Hilton or Crowne..Will go ahead and book both then cancel one after a little more insight from Volnation.

Do you recommend the seats in section TT as well?

Absolutely. Those seats have as good a view of the action as any in the stadium.

I personally, prefer the Crowne but both are satisfactory.

Pull the trigger on the TT section seats, it's a no brainer.

Once you're in town go to the bookstore in the university center and McMillan's. If one of them doesn't have it, it's not a piece of clothing you need.

its farther than .6 i promise. maybe 1.6 but probably a little farther than that. its a doable walk but might want to catch a ride coming back.

Good advice. I did the walk to the stadium last year to stop by Freak's tailgate and it wasn't bad at all. But the walk back is uphill and would truly suck. It's not even worth worrying about though. Just walk about 3 minutes from the hotel lobby to the other side of Market Square and catch the trolley. I think it's $5 for a round trip ticket and very, very easy.

yep, it's at least 1.25 miles. I like the upper deck in the first few rows. TT would be great, imo.

I guess you have this, but...

Go TT all the way if you already haven't. And just in case you want to check the views from various sections for yourself before you buy:

Virtual Neyland

that is a pretty great tool, allowing you to click on each section (and even see multiple views within sections so you can see the difference between row 5 and row 25) to see the view of the field from that section.

If you drive somewhere the coliseum is always an option for parking. Pretty cheap to park take the shuttle get dropped off right there at the bookstore and gate 21. After the game the bus will take you back to your car. Just another option..
