I had a green machine

the dukes of hazzard big wheel that OE and myself had were way better than any green machine big wheel :p. But i can't relate almost getting hit by cars to actually getting hit by a bullet, vest or no vest.

When the front tires wore a hole in them we used to take 2 sets of back wheels off Big Wheels and make coaster wagons (no brakes).

I was 5 and lifting a combine tire to move our sandbox from one yard to another. Needless to say, my "friends" left me hanging while they went inside to get a drink. Next thing I know I'm lying underneath it with a broken femur bone (clean break and required surgery) and a dislocated hip. I can still feel it when it's going to rain.

i understand where you are coming from, i've had several knee surgeries due to playing ball. anytime it's going to rain or if the weather is about to change drastically my knee throbs.

already have, i can get my leg broke below and above the knee and a rod put in for my knee to be straight so it doesn't keep tearing, or....have a total knee replacement....or.....do nothing. i chose the later

I used to know a guy that got hit by lightening and was clinically dead for awhile, until they got him back. He said there was just nothing. It may be that people get these visions and things while they're still alive, or when they first get brought back, I don't know.

I was reading that in some emergency rooms they were starting to put signs and things up on top of cabinets, so if someone actually has an experience floating up outside their body, they would see the sign and report it later, thus proving the experience really happened. I don't know whatever came of that, though.

When I was deployed we use to wake up to mortar fire every morning. First morning it scared me to death because one actually hit our tent. The funny thing is, the morons were to ignorant to adjust the firing angle so needless to say after the first 3 months there was a hole about 20 ft. beside our tent.

Never been shot, but been in combat before.

The tent would be enough to really peeve me off. It would be someone's near death experience....and I just hope that it would be their's. I respect that you have been in combat...and hope that I, too, would respond with similar fortitude.

i pretty much drowned while fly fishing in the holston river. several miles up river the gates of the damn where opened and....long story but you know what comes next. anyway, i lost about 500 dollars worth of equipment but for some reason i'm still here to tell about it. this kind of ordeal will change a man somewhat, however.

I always get freaked out about fishing "below the dam" for similar reasons...I don't "know" what you're talking about...but I have a good idea.

Last night after Thanksgiving dinner at my inlaws, we were sitting around talking, about 25 of us, kids, and adults, and my neice (20) was kneeling down in the hallway, barely coughing and people were saying are you okay, are you okay, well I noticed she had a cookie in her right hand so I sprung into action and picked her up and performed the heimlich maneuver on her and a piece of cookie came out of her mouth that was lodged in her throat. She was then okay. I have choked before and fortunately always able to get food out. Also on a ski trip last year my sons friend went into seizures and before he fell back into a wooden table I got in behind him and braced his fall. He had an eplectic seizure and he eventually was okay.Well actually he was skipping his meds and it caught up with him and his body shut down, he seized up.I only hope someone reacts to my family and my emergency if the need is ever there.I am no hero by any means.
