Not really, because who else is NC State going to hire for about $3 million a year who is going to outrecruit Richt, Fuente, and whoever FSU has as their coach next year? For them, Doeren is a decent fit and went 8-4 there. I don't think they're going to get into bidding wars for top tier coaches if Doeren leaves. So their choices are to remain stable with Doeren, or they make a noiseless hire to replace him.

But for us, yes, it's clearly a move of desperation and idiocy.
