NCAA Tournament - Day 3

Lambert is down for Duke... looks like an ACL. They might still have enough to get by Oregon... but Maryland?

ND and SC injuries sure make things look wide open in their brackets. We could be in a situation again where the semi Baylor - UConn matchup would be the de-facto NC game.

Maryland seems to be peaking... but the game is in CT. Foul trouble or a bad shooting night could still sink UConn. And wouldn't the LV's love another shot at Baylor?

Florida State looked good... but Mizzou's defense did not adjust well. Mizzou manages to guard the three point line and still clog the middle and rebound... but they had no answer for FSU's 15 foot jumpers and the Seminoles man-to-man defense that limited their 3 pt looks.

SC could be in trouble going up against FSU. ND would miss Turner going against OSU and Texas.

Don't be surprised if the Pac 12 falls back to earth tonight.
Hoping to do our part vs Cal. :hi:

Baylor has all of the pieces to beat UCONN. They probably would have won in Storrs if not for the performance of reserve Dangerfield.

Let's not put the horse before the cart...Cal Golden Bears first.

5 of 16 teams in the final 16. The Mississippi State/Washington game should be interesting.

Unbelievable how weak the SEC was this year outside of the top 2 teams.

I think MSU has the discipline and the players to move on to the E8, but Vivians needs to get her head straightened out.

I don't think MSU will be able to stop Plum. Impressive performance by the Pac-12. I can see Washington, Stanford, and Oregon State moving through to the Elite 8.

So weak. Congrats to Alabama on making it to the Sweet 16 of the WNIT, I guess...

Interesting matchup coming up on Thursday between two teams that shouldn't have beat the LVs: Va. Tech and PSU. I think either team has a decent shot of winning it all (though the other remaining B10 teams -- Indiana, Iowa, Michigan -- should be competitive, too).

Yes, this season would have been a bit more understandable if UT won all the games they were supposed to and played competitively and lost a few they should not have won.

Not to mention the SEC's best team very nearly lost on their home court to the 5th place team from the Pac 12.

And I'd love for someone who watched both Tennessee and Washington play last night to explain to me again how Diamond is a lock to be the top pick....

They don't have to stop Plum. Make her earn her points, but don't let the other players beat you. I think MSU's post depth, athleticism and defense will get them to the E8 in a tight game.

That was a fun game to watch last night - Washington and Oklahoma. Nothing at all like the brutality that has become the SEC.

As pointed out by Gail Goestenkors, Plum will go left and if she does she will try to go all the way to the rim. If she goes right, she will stop and take the step back three-pointer. In the open court she will go all the way to the rim. She can lift a shot in the blink of an eye either standing still or on the run.

I live out here and have watched a lot of PAC-12 WBB. Plum is great but the supporting cast is definitely suspect. I think a zone against them is foolish, but if you have the players for it, a hard man defense is the way to go IMO.

I didn't watch last night's Washington game, but did watch their game against Montana State and was thoroughly unimpressed with anyone on Washington other than Plum (who didn't have her best game) and Osahor. The rest of the players look slow and can't shoot. I think MSU has the players to guard their secondary players, and think they can limit Osahor's scoring and rebounding with their size.
