NCAA is likely going to opt out of the final three years on the contract and open up the bidding, which ESPN will probably win. Well I guess now we know there will be a 96 team-tournament next season. :banghead2:

Bob Ford: In quest for 96, NCAA gets greedy | Philadelphia Inquirer | 04/06/2010

"The NCAA has looked at the situation and decided it presents a reasonable argument to include more schools in the tournament. In all likelihood, it will opt out of the final three years of its contract with CBS, leaving more than $2 billion on the table, and expand the field to 96 teams for next season. It will then reopen the bidding, and ESPN is expected to make that a very worthwhile decision"

The NCAA is doing their best to ruin this tournament. I love the games on CBS. How can they ruin this tournament just to get more money but a recruit can't sell a candy bar to help raise the funds needed to attend a camp?

All I know is, if they really expand to 96 teams, that autistic kid is screwed. He'll never sniff another perfect bracket.

But we'll be able to watch games on multiple channels and quit worrying about the damn switchovers

This is a great point, something that has been lacking with CBS coverage, but they're gonna need ESPN45 to cover all the first round games, lol.

couldn't agree more. i hate espn with a passion. no i don't believe they have it out for TN, i just hate their coverage. the announcers are HORRIBLE

It's better than watching Kentucky manhandle Cornell while Xavier and Kansas St are in double overtime playing one of the best games of the tourney.

I heard if they expand to 96 ESPN might take the first couple of rounds and then the tourney would finish on CBS.

I'm just confused as to why CBS has better play by players than ESPN. I mean, it's not even close. This is what ESPN does. CBS covers sports like once a week.

I mean, really, do you want Dickie V and Nessler calling the national championship game? Let the idea of having Dick Vitale call a game in which Duke is playing for a national title sink into your head for a minute.

I agree and that is what would probably happen. Definitely Vitale would be calling the game. Hello mute button..

a few years ago i got to the point where i was sick of DV, and anytime he would call a game i'd flip the channel. with the exception of when TN played

It would probably be Vitale and Jay Bilas with someone else most likely Daniel Schulman. ACC city.

Maybe they'll can a few ESPN announcers and just hire the CBS guys. Except for Verne. I would like Verne to just go call the games of whatever NFL team drafts Tim Tebow.

That would be the only thing that may save this. I really don't care what channel it's on. I just want Gus Johnson, Clark Kellog and Greg Anthony on my TV.
