NCAA removes spring transfer window for football

Just 4 days after Joey Aguilar and Nico Iamaleava joined forces to prove that Tennessee benefited from the spring transfer portal, the NCAA decided that the spring portal is an issue that needs to go away.

Some will win and some will lose. There will be times where we wish for a spring portal and times when we are glad it’s gone. It’s always going to be that way.

I think the bigger issue for teams is the winter portal that opens between the end of the regular season and the playoffs/bowl games. But I don’t have a solution.

It occurred to me Nico could easily have held out for more money during the actual football season. There are worse things than spring transfers.

one thing I have wondered about is offsetting when you can enter the portal, vs when you can leave the portal.

make it so that you can enter the portal before the spring semester, but you can't join a different school until the end of your original school's spring semester.

make it a waiting period, at least for the people who enter the portal multiple times.

The winter portal had me thinking it would be like a player failing a class and wouldn't be available for the bowl game. (Trying to make myself feel better about it) Has that happen recently?
