DMZ - This is a router feature that simply opens all ports to a specific IP address. By assigning that same address to your PS2, you will no longer need to worry about opening certain ports for certain games. All ports are open for any game.
This also cleans up a lot of connection issues.
How to DMZ your PS2
Step 1: Finding your network settings
Select START
Select RUN
Type CMD into the box and hit OK
Type IPCONFIG /ALL and hit ENTER
All of your network settings will be displayed. There are 4 addresses that you need to write down.
-IP Address
-Default Gateway
-DNS Primary address (first one listed)
-DNS Secondary address (second one listed)
Now I need to select an IP address that will be used for the PS2. All you have to do is take your IP address and change the last number.
In our example, I will use 192.168.2.10 as my new PS2 address.
I need to ping my newly selected PS2 IP address to make sure that nothing else on my network is using that address.
Select START
Select RUN
Type CMD into the box and hit OK
Type PING 192.168.2.10 and hit ENTER
If I get a request timed out response then I know nothing is using my new address and I can use it for my PS2.
If I get a reply then something else is using that address and I need to select a different address. I would simply select 192.168.2.11 and repeat the PING test.
At the end of STEP 1 I have the following:
-PS2 Address: 192.168.2.10
-Default Gateway: 192.168.2.1
-DNS Primary: 203.12.160.35
-DNS Secondary: 203.12.160.36
Step 2: Setting up your router
Now that we have our PS2 address (192.168.2.10) we need to plug that address into the router’s DMZ.
Open up Internet Explorer (or whatever browser you use).
Type your Default Gateway address into the browser’s address bar.
Using our example, I would type in 192.168.2.1 into the address bar.
This will bring up a username/password screen. If you know your username and password enter them and hit ok.
If you don’t know your username and password then your router is probably still using the default setup. Go to this page to find your default username and password: Default Router Passwords - The internets most comprehensive router password database
Once you are in the router……
You need to find the DMZ option. If you have an applications and gaming tab then you will find it there.
Example: (note: address for example is different from the address in our example. This is just to show you what you are looking for.)
Once you have located the DMZ option then all you need to do is input the last part of your PS2 address into the box.
Using our example, I would input 10 into the box and hit APPLY.
You can now close out of your router’s configuration page.
Step 3: Setting up your PS2
Load NCAA Football
Select Game Modes
Select Play Online
Select Network Configuration and change to New/Edit, Hit X to continue
Select ADD Setting
Select appropriate Memory Card Slot
Select Hardware: SCE/Ethernet (network setting)
Select User ID and password Not Required
Select MANUAL to set the IP address
Enter IP address, Netmask (255.255.255.0), Default Router (same as Default Gateway)
Using our Example:
IP Address: 192.168.2.10
Netmask: 255.255.255.0
Default Router: 192.168.2.1
Continue
Enter DNS settings
Using our Example:
Primary DNS: 203.12.160.35
Secondary DNS: 203.12.160.36
Test connection
Name your new setting: DMZ and Save
Now sign online using your new DMZ Setting
Once you are online you can test to make sure that your PS2 is using the new IP address.
Go back to your computer and PING the address.
Using our Example:
Select START
Select RUN
Type CMD into the box and hit OK
Type PING 192.168.2.10 and hit ENTER
You should now get a response and that means that your PS2 is using the 192.168.2.10 address.
