Cool. Do we have a roster that’s even close to OSUs? No we don’t. And let’s face it, QJ wanted to go to a place he could win a title. He chose OSU. Ask yourself this, and be honest, what would help us more this season? An elite RB? Or an elite DL or DB?
You're acting like it's an either/.or scenario. By all accounts, we're expected to be big spenders in the portal. If we want Smothers, Coleman, and Byard, we'll have the money.

Look where NFL teams prioritize the money under their salary cap, check the early draft rounds and I think it will show RB down the priority list.
The NFL is way different than College.

Talented RBs are plentiful in a league with only 32 teams. In college, there 136 teams and each portal cycle only has maybe 10 portal RBs that are "proven" impact players. And there are a lot more than 10 teams that have an immediate need for a proven impact RB.

From a different perspective, why would Smothers transfer to a team where he MIGHT get 30% of the carries? Even if he became RB1 his numbers would probably drop significantly. I would think stats would matter more for someone his size to get noticed by NFL or CFL.

Durability matters and the second contract matters more to most running backs. Only a very small percentage of RBs are getting drafted in the first round

You are assuming we will have the money. Maybe we will and maybe we won’t.

I just don't think we need to spend big money on a running back this year, not with bishop coming back. Bishop averaged nearly 6 yards per carry and had over 1000 yards and 15 TDs. Just need a good backup that's more of a threat catching the ball out of the back field.

Bishop is the one who should be a backup

Oh I remember you touting Cam Seldon will put Bishop on the bench.

Damn you still on that horse?

Bro, Seldon is on school number 3 pretty soon. Bishop is a 1,000 yard rusher and All-SEC.
Yeah, let’s bench that.

Bishop is a solid #2 back, strikes fear in no no defense
