'26 NC QB Faizon Brandon (Tennessee commit)

It seems that way because of the money, but it isn’t. Different sport. Different way to replenish talent on your roster. And roster is double the size, and you still have to carry both the present and future of your football team on it.
Look at overall rosters and see how much is now freshmen or sophomores on our team and UGA. Teams are getting younger and younger now. Believe it or not but look at overall rosters and see what is going on.

And if college and nfl are so different, then why are ADs (including our own) begging for more structure and negotiations like the nfl? Where costs are shown and contracts are more visible? It’s because it’s becoming the nfl model whether anyone likes it or not.

Right.. like Ewers and Arch Manning were never on the same roster. Like Will Howard and Julian Sayin weren’t on the same roster. One of those guys is likely to transfer, but if not, we’ll have 2. One playing, one waiting in the wings. That’s kinda how it works. This is not the NFL for the umpteenth time dude.
Lol!

Two teams that spend the most on rosters. That’s why that happened.

It’s like that now because the system is just being put into place. How are you gonna phase out upperclassmen in a system where you can’t go pro for 2 years?

All the elite schools will still be financially structured similarly Ohio St and Texas, roster building in this sport is fundamentally different to the NFL and like I said necessitates you carry developing talent. You and D4H are hung up on the "money will make it the NFL" thing. You forget money has been involved forever. Elite teams will be able to pay a QB and a QB-in-waiting. It’ll be fine.

Now you’re going all over the place. Where did I say phase out upperclassmen? You will still have them. But with the portal and $$$, you will know who your starters are and ekg depth walk if they get more $$$. Look at our off-season. It’s just the way it is. Keep who you know is good and pay them (upper class men). Fill depth and needs with young talent and portal. Which will resort in more rosters having around 50/50 or more underclassmen because you can’t afford a team if not.

It’s ok to say the game is changing because it is. And will continue to change more and more.

What evidence do you have that this is different from before? Was there a notably larger percentage of upperclassmen pre NIL? Roster building is fundamentally the same. We can pay a starting QB and the next QB like we’ve been doing. You’re putting a lot of energy into agreeing with D4H which should tell you something.

I don’t even know what he said. All I saw was your comments and Marcos. That’s what I commented on. I have no idea what he said.

All I’m saying is rosters are getting younger. They are.

NIL moves us closer to NFL model.
It does.

ADs are asking for federal oversight and bargaining. Plus, many are hiring “GMs” to run NiL and rosters.
This is like the nfl.

We all hate it but it’s moving toward that unless more changes are made. That’s all I’ve said. You keep making different arguments and then bringing up something else to try to help your point and now just trying to say I’m D4H to avoid making an actual point.

Well unless they totally disassociate CFB with universities, the roster building model can only resemble the NFL so much. It’s still fundamentally the same. Maybe they are trending younger, you still haven’t provided any evidence of that. Rosters have been mostly Fr and So for a while. And none of it means we can’t pay 2 QBs or that Faizon absolutely must start right away. That’s what I disagreed with D4H on. Idk why you jumped in.

Less and less these days. Guys who like each other have plenty of ways to stay in touch + NIL has minimized that effect.
So, maybe it only works on ELITE level WR prospects. I’ll take it. Love a QB exhibiting leadership abilities early to go along with physical gifts.

We may have a chance to compare one that does with one that didn’t. That light could still come on for the last guy, he is on the clock.

Manning was rated the #2 QB in his class IIRC
He was #2 in some services (to Josh Booty) and #1 in others. It's been so long, I don't remember which ranked him what. He was the Gatorade National POY, though.

Also, Maurice Staley was the #1 ranked WR according to at least one service that year. So we actually signed 2 #1 ranked WRs in the nation in the same class. Then Kyler, McCollough, and Hampton were all top 10-15.

That was the best WR class in UT history, in terms of recruiting rankings. It's a shame that Staley was dismissed from the team as a sophomore. He was going to be a star.
