'25 NC OT David Sanders (Tennessee)

As the father of an autistic child, I appreciate this.

My nephew is quite autistic. Hes also an absolute animal that loves to wrestle etc which is not typical of a lot of people on the spectrum from what I understand. Love that little dude. Hes a warrior if ever there was one.

I was never diagnosed, but I definitely have a touch of the 'tism as my daughter calls it. Have a few tendencies/idiosyncrasies commonly associated with autism. My wife and daughter both have pretty severe ADHD. I would post about probable causes for the dramatic increase in these afflictions, but this isnt the place. We can start a thread in the PF though if you want where its a welcome topic.

looks like a SDE.

he is definitely noticeably lighter than a guy who has been in the SEC, and college, for 3/4 years now, but not comically so like some of Butch's guys.

Honestly, after watching DEs run right around our 340lb Tackles this season sometimes without them touching them...I think Tackles need to shrink a little. Sanders size/speed is far more suitable to fend off a 250lb EDGE that is super quick and runs a 4.5 in the 40. I dont see a 6ft7in 340 or 350lb guy with a 30lb belly being as quick. Guards are different. 330lb- 340lb maulers are fine, as long as they can still pull on running plays and get to their spots, or make it to the 2nd level to get a body on that LB to open a hole then they are good. Pearces no1 trait that is gonna make him a 1st round pick is his "get off". That incredibly quick 1st couple steps that can allow him to turn the corner on OTs if he times the snap well. Sanders has the perfect build to stop guys like Pearce IMO. Doesnt have 30lbs of bad weight to lose. Hope he plays at 310lbs maybe with the extra freshman 15lbs being muscle. Guess we will see, but it seems like as DEs and Edges have gotten smaller and quicker, the Tackle position needs to evolve as well. Quickness is more important these days IMO

He’ll put on 15-20 pounds of good weight courtesy of the UT S&C team before kickoff.

Not sure 🤔 how to react to that.
Was it snarky or serious?
Anyway, we have to continue to win some of these recruiting battles and portal battles for 5 stars to get to where we want to go.
Some of y’all’s mommas or spouses must really worry about you every time you walk out the front door.

Anyone have quotes?

But how close did he come to actually changing his mind and flipping to the Buckeyes?

"Very close," Sanders told 247Sports' Greg Biggins after arriving in Hawaii on Sunday to begin preparing for Friday's Polynesian Bowl.
"Everybody knows I went to Ohio State — like, that late visit — and they had a very late push to come try to get me to flip there," said Sanders, who's ranked the No. 5 overall prospect and No. 1 offensive tackle in the 2025 class, according to the industry-generated 247Sports Composite. "And I had a lot of thoughts about it, so I was thinking about it. I wasn't 100-percent sure on signing day.
"We have until the 6th — December 4th, 5th or 6th, you can sign — so I was like, 'There's no need to rush it on this day. Let's just wait and make sure this is the right decision.' We went over it, and I came the next day and I signed."
"I would just say the availability I saw in the room," Sanders said. "There was a lot of veteran guys that were there, and now they're all gone, so it's, like, an open spectrum. Just whoever's going to work and get there, and get in the weight room, get on the field, get in film — things like that — you're going to be able to play early.

"And, obviously, the relationship I have with Coach Elarbee and Coach Heup was second to none compared to other schools that recruited me."
"But I have nothing but respect for that program. Even when I committed, they never once downed me. They never once talked bad about Tennessee, negative recruited. There was none of that, so I just have a bunch of respect for those guys. And they did a great job recruiting me, as well. It was just that I didn't feel as connected as I did with Tennessee. But I wish them nothing but the best."
