Another player who balled out last week is North Carolina defensive lineman Daevin Hobbs. Alabama appears to be Tennessee’s biggest competition as of this point but there is a long way to go in this one and Tennessee has certainly put themselves heavily back into this race. Expect Rodney Garner to be on hand for Hobbs’ game next Friday night with Tennessee playing on Thursday.

Per year but you have to worry about roster retention with the portal now. Kids need to be making money especially those on the roster that have proved themselves. It’s just not healthy for a freshman to come in and be making millions while your upperclassmen leaders are making pocket change. Hopefully that makes sense.

Don’t forget about all the other sports the money will be used for. Basketball players aren’t coming here to get free football tickets.

North Carolina could be slipping a little in Hobbs’ recruitment as Georgia and Alabama have emerged as the main contenders at this point. The Tar Heels aren’t out of it for the four-star defensive end from Concord (N.C.) Robinson but do have some ground to make up with the Bulldogs and the Crimson Tide in a better shape to land him early in his senior season.

Tennessee has been a dysfunctional dumpster fire for over a decade. The talent we landed wasn’t developed properly. Most major programs know that, all of our competitors are making kids aware of that. Heupel and staff has been fantastic in changing that but it’s going to take time to change perception.
