to our press conference;

That's great but it doesn't matter. Do you honestly think you're going to have these coaches for more than a year or two? By the time they get their recruits in they'll all be gone.

coming from a bucs fan, i dont think monte will be there more than a couple of years

My favorite part of the Press Conference was the following dialogue:

Q: Coach Orgeron, what are your thoughts on coming to work for Coach Kiffin?

A: Yaw Yaw Yaw Monte"s great.

Q: Coach O, you realize that you are going to work for Lane Kiffen, correct?

A: Yaw Yaw Yaw who?

Q: you kmow, Monte's 30 year old son. The guy who got fired from the Raiders.

A: Yaw Yaw Yaw oh s**t.

Yep....there are still people on the VN that will tell you that Urban Meyer's success is nothing more than a fluke as well.....

I think most of us accept the reality of this hire. Barring unusual circumstances when Kiffin starts winning, he will be a hot ticket. Nothing lasts forever. I'm plan on having fun as long as this staff is here!

what gets me is that people say CMK will only be here 2 yrs. so what? Quite a lot can be done in 2 years.

Thats exactly what most coaches will use against us on the recruiting trail. Oh O won't be here that long and monte is getting ready to retire. They have to think of something. But whoever said they smell fear is exactly right. We're definitely turning some heads.

I will say he will stay through the five or six year contract Lane signed, then hand it over to O or whoever

I think there is a possibility he does stay 4-5 years, but who knows how long he will coach here. I would say the contract he signs at UT, however long, will be how long he stays. Ne one know how long the contract will be?

I'm hoping for 4-5 years. Leaving the program in better shape and moving on to a higher position is not necessarily a bad thing. Would LSU trade back what Saban gave them?

Well, Saban is unnaturally fleet-footed. If what they've said is true (top 5 CFB coaching job), they might just be content here as long as they're bein paid on-par with what is expected.

My perceptions is this: they aren't here to just win Tennessee football games. They are here to be part of a new cocept in college football. Putting together a program that will be considered the gateway to the NFL for the talented players who chose to come here.

This ain't your typical coaching gig fellas. This something special. Something that could be interesting and fullfilling to them for a long time.

It's been that way at UT for awhile. UT has fallen off a bit lately, but I think we're still #4 in all of CFB for number of players in the NFL.

This is taking that concept and ramping it up. Definitely.

I think the one from the Bucs fans is funny...

"coming from a Buc fan...Monte will only the be there a year or two"

So as a Buc fan you have expereince with him leaving after a couple of years?

So the last 13 years he's been in Tampa were really just two?

In another thread a poster said that Orgeron was told he would be DC in 2 years when Monte retires. The poster claimed to know Orgeron's wife. Not sure of the validity but it seams plausible.

I agree. Tennessee should be one of the top five jobs in the Nation in college; mediocrity the last few years has beat us down a little at least in national preception but we're at worst a top ten program still with recruiting budget and facilities that will be second to none. It would take an opportunity in the NFL to lure Lane away and even then I think UT would make a hard push to keep him if he is successful enough to earn consideration at that level again.

Monte looks to have no shortage of passion for the game and I'm sure will be even more energized with the chance to work with his son and be able to see his family every day. The day Monte's passion for the game wears out then we might have an issue but I'm not sure the guy will ever run out of passion for the game after that presser.
