National Average Price of Gasoline Hits an All-Time High

Oh I don’t know ..how about that our government officials that are elected in a capitalist system shouldn’t be pushing a socialist agenda , because all socialist systems eventually break down into a dictatorship ?
Some people like to blame government for problems, so I guess they can break out 13-year old video clips and blame them for the gas price.

Some people like to blame big business, so I guess we can break out the last quarter's earnings reports and blame them.

Finger pointing for everyone!

If you look I didn’t blame the government for high gas prices , I blamed the self confessed “ liberal “ for saying she / they , want to control private businesses . That’s pure socialism and history tells us that socialism is bad . Again all socialized systems eventually break down into dictatorships . I was just posting as a reminder that this person is still a very powerful figure in our liberal controlled government right now . We honestly don’t think her ideology has changed in the last 13 years do we ? Nah we all know it hasn’t .

In fairness, to date virtually all systems have eventually broken down into dictatorships. Ours hasn't, yet. But Trump tried and is still trying, to accomplish it.

The thing that stops dictatorships is a document acknowledging individual rights . Our little dictator to the north is a prime example of that . He just told his citizens that they do not have a right to defend themselves and preceded to take something away from them that he deemed as not needed . Anything a government allows you to have they can take away . That’s why inalienable rights are so important to a free society .

I think all presidents that use EOs ( every single one ) to get around laws , or majority votes , have a little tyrant tendencies in them . Just my opinion tho .
They do but EOs are allowed and can be reviewed for legality. I don't know many dictators who acquiesce to a court decision

How does one rationally blame private industry for making a profit? Isn't that what they are in business for?

How did he try? Hell, he had a perfect opportunity when COVID kicked off but for the life of me I don't remember him using the pandemic to consolidate power and issue restrictive edicts.

I agree. And instead of consolidating power, he was vilified for leaving the state governor's in charge of their state's response to covid. Of course, I think he got that right even though he was incorrect on other elements of covid response.

I find it funny that when questioned on the details of what Trump did to make people think he wanted to be a dictator none of the accusers ever answer.

Don't we all assign blame to the mouthpiece when bad apples act out? My parents held MLK responsible for the riots in the wake of his events in Nashville. Sarah Palin was assigned blame on Gabby Giffords shooting. I tend to blame the race hustlers when there is a riot or looting.

Isn't this just part of what we tend to do?

Probably so, it's easier to assign blame on a high profile target than to look deeper into the issue.

I don't think "in fairness" means what you think it means.

Sure it does. The fact is that in any given system people with massive, insatiable egos rise to the top and make it a dictatorship. Marx and really more Lenin arrogantly believed that the people were so easily manipulated that they needed the guiding hand of the collective to maintain a just distribution of resources.

Fine in theory but in practice those who rose to the top of the power governing the collective were themselves too arrogant and power hungry to manage it and the dictatorial state became the enemy of the people, as it was inevitably going to be with corrupt leadership.

Our country's leadership positions are too powerful. The people willing to sacrifice to get there themselves have such massive arrogance and egos that they, like their politburo brethren, invariably end up convincing themselves that they, and only they, have the answers.

Trump is the epitome of that: "I, and I alone" .....

Care to give some examples of what Trump did to make you come to that conclusion?

That's not a trump thing, which makes your "in fairness" description pure nonsense. Trump didn't make the position more powerful. The issues you have are from the existing and festering disease that is DC. It didn't begin or end from trump in office.
