I was at the game last night and Brady and Pearl were having a good, humorous chat before the game so when I saw this article title it surprised me. I hope to read it later.

What happened at the game was the LSU fans were giving Bradshaw hell for an airball 3 he tried. A little later he drill a 3 and turned and pointed to the LSU students, who just turned the volume up on him everytime he touched the ball. Toward the end of the game Bradshaw was on the bench and the crowd was chanting "we want Bradshaw". I think Pearl was going to put him in anyway but when he did he walked Dane half way to the scorers table holding Dane's arm in the air basically saying, okay here he is and the crowd cheered. Why Brady would get upset at that I have no idea but he is an intense individual with his a$$ on the line at LSU. I think Bruce was just trying to have fun with the situation with the game pretty much all but done.

That situation sounds harmless to me. I hope we get the chance to read this article today.

Here's a working link to it - which, ironically, a guy on an LSU board discovered....

Brady: Pearl Has No Class

Really, this one sounds like a press creation. Brady obviously made the comment immediately after the game and before he'd had a chance to find out what was going on, and, more importantly, "within earshot" of reporters not to them...

What was the most interesting for me was 1. There's no mention of this in the Baton Rouge newspaper (yet); and, 2. About 1/4 of the LSU board fans used it as a gratuitous excuse to carry on what's evidently a continuing and long-running argument about firing Brady (I wonder if he has a dewlap, 3 chins, and claps alot?).

Sounds pretty stupid to me. What does what Pearl did have to do with class?? Hopefully, you're right and this is something that is being contrived by the press; if not somebody needs to grow a sense of humor.

That was more or less the reaction of the LSU board members... though the fact that it wasn't in their paper was probably a big reason. That, and that a good number of them were at the game themselves so they knew what was going on.

Now that I think about it, that "within earshot of a number of reporters" line is pretty interesting. Obviously, the Tennessean guy was one of them, but JUST one of them (according to him)... so how come none of the other weasels jumped on such an obvious chance to generate some controversy/ readership?

I can't believe the guy would make it up outright- too easy to get caught by the inevitable followup questions to Brady- but........?

"Sounds pretty stupid to me."

That's a pretty accurate opinion!!! The article is pretty "ho hum".

So, do I detect a little bit of JEALOUSY on the part of the LSU coach?? Perhaps, he's jealous because he does not have the "Pearl Personality" and or Pearl's penchant for press coverage??

Does the LSU Coach dye his hair???

After LSU rocked our football buses, I just do not hold them in esteem.

If you ask me, it is pretty ridiculous that an LSU coach or even their fans are making comments about coach Pearl's class. I really do not know if they have much room to comment. Typically, LSU fans/players are some of the lowest class people I have ever met. I think it shows energy and pride for your program. I think Bruce was using it as a motivational tool.

This doesn't surprise me. Brady, under the best circumstances, is volatile. Couple that with the fact he is coaching for his job, and you have a guy who is likely to overreact to an opposing coach having some innocent fun.

Finally got to read the article. And just as I thought would be the case, the one with no class and a sorry attitude is Brady. Evidently, Coach Pearl could see the handwriting on the backboard and knew the game was over even before the horn sounded. His comment about the student body having fun with Dane is more in line with his class and attitude abcut the game. I appreciate everything he has done for the University so far and I am sure he will continue to be the gentleman he is. Thank you Coach Pearl for all you have done, keep up the good work.

Sounds a lot like the Kingsport Times writer "GOOB" we'll call him. Much like many that are anti Fulmer he writes what he wants reguardless win or lose.
Dont like CPF here thats your opinion, But he must remain liberal and report as is.... He's a complaint shy of being another VOLNATION CPF hater.

So Bruce Pearl's class is attacked by a coach with the nickname of "Shady Brady" in the college basketball circles? Mr. Brady needs to get a clue and a little lighter personality.

Bradshaw move upsets LSU coach

By CHRIS LOW
Staff Writer

BATON ROUGE, La. — The Tennessee men's basketball team took one too many knockout-sized shots last night at the Maravich Assembly Center in losing 88-74 to a big, athletic LSU team.

But the most piercing shot might have come after the game.

LSU Coach John Brady, just before he went on his postgame radio show at press row, questioned Tennessee Coach Bruce Pearl's class.

Brady made the comments with several reporters sitting within earshot.

"Tell their coach to show some class," Brady said to someone standing behind him. "What's he doing holding up Bradshaw's hand to the student section? Show a little class. Act like you've been there."

Brady was referring to Pearl putting junior forward Dane Bradshaw back into the game with 1:07 remaining.

The LSU students had been on Bradshaw hard all night and turned up the heat after Bradshaw gestured and screamed at them after hitting a 3-pointer in the second half.

They were chanting Bradshaw's name in the final minutes, and Pearl walked Bradshaw to the scorer's table and held up Bradshaw's hand before putting him in the game.

Pearl declined to comment about Brady's comments, but said, "I think their students appreciated it. They were having fun with it."

There wasn't much else fun about last night for the Vols, who allowed the Tigers (10-5, 2-0) to score 58 second-half points and shoot 76 percent from the field in the second half.

"The closer that team gets to the basket, the more dominant they are," Pearl said. "Our only chance to win this game was to make it a track meet, and they beat us at that, too." n

LSU's 6-foot-9, 310-pound forward Glen Davis scored 18 of his 24 points in the second half and also pulled down 10 rebounds. Freshman forward Tyrus Thomas, a 6-9 freshman forward, just missed a triple-double with 17 points, nine rebounds and nine blocked shots.

The Vols (11-2, 2-1) had 13 of their shots swatted away by the Tigers, who overcame 25 turnovers with their shooting and athleticism around the basket. •

Looks to me like a waste of bandwidth. Even if Brady said something so stupid, who cares? Coach Pearl can substitute whenever and however he wants to. Looked to me like he was taking defeat in good sportsmanship and just trying to have a little fun with the opposing students who were all over Dane for the entire game.

Backtracking Brady??

"Of all the teams in the SEC, Tennessee and Florida are the most surprising this season with how they've played and if I had to vote for the SEC Coach of the Year today, I'd vote for Bruce Pearl.''

I'm not sure that's backtracking as much as it is stating the obvious.

Sometimes I think that you'd argue with a brick wall. :biggrin2:

Seems like it to me...

LSU coach John Brady may have more to say on today's SEC coaches teleconference about his distress that his off-the-cuff and (he thought) off-the-record comments about Pearl ended up printed in Sunday's edition of The Tennessean.

Brady was quoted as saying "tell their coach to show some class'' in response to Pearl's good-natured interaction with the LSU student section in the final seconds of LSU's 88-74 victory.

In Monday's Baton Rouge Morning Advocate, Brady said he values his relationships with all SEC coaches because he appreciates how hard their jobs are and that he's impressed with Pearl:

"Of all the teams in the SEC, Tennessee and Florida are the most surprising this season with how they've played and if I had to vote for the SEC Coach of the Year today, I'd vote for Bruce Pearl.''
