Bradshaw move upsets LSU coach

BATON ROUGE, La. The Tennessee men's basketball team took one too many knockout-sized shots last night at the Maravich Assembly Center in losing 88-74 to a big, athletic LSU team.
But the most piercing shot might have come after the game.
LSU Coach John Brady, just before he went on his postgame radio show at press row, questioned Tennessee Coach Bruce Pearl's class.
Brady made the comments with several reporters sitting within earshot.
"Tell their coach to show some class," Brady said to someone standing behind him. "What's he doing holding up Bradshaw's hand to the student section? Show a little class. Act like you've been there."
Brady was referring to Pearl putting junior forward Dane Bradshaw back into the game with 1:07 remaining.
The LSU students had been on Bradshaw hard all night and turned up the heat after Bradshaw gestured and screamed at them after hitting a 3-pointer in the second half.
They were chanting Bradshaw's name in the final minutes, and Pearl walked Bradshaw to the scorer's table and held up Bradshaw's hand before putting him in the game.
Pearl declined to comment about Brady's comments, but said, "I think their students appreciated it. They were having fun with it."
There wasn't much else fun about last night for the Vols, who allowed the Tigers (10-5, 2-0) to score 58 second-half points and shoot 76 percent from the field in the second half.
"The closer that team gets to the basket, the more dominant they are," Pearl said. "Our only chance to win this game was to make it a track meet, and they beat us at that, too." n
LSU's 6-foot-9, 310-pound forward Glen Davis scored 18 of his 24 points in the second half and also pulled down 10 rebounds. Freshman forward Tyrus Thomas, a 6-9 freshman forward, just missed a triple-double with 17 points, nine rebounds and nine blocked shots.
The Vols (11-2, 2-1) had 13 of their shots swatted away by the Tigers, who overcame 25 turnovers with their shooting and athleticism around the basket.
