Just thought some of you gamers would enjoy the news that EA isn't going to be the developer for the next NASCAR PC game.

NASCAR and iRacing.com Motorsport Simulations announced today that the two organizations are joining forces to create a NASCAR-sanctioned online racing series, a new competition division that will be licensed by NASCAR and organized and hosted by iRacing. Beginning early in 2010, NASCAR fans anywhere in the world will be able to log onto the internet and compete against one another, as well as a number of NASCAR drivers, in an official NASCAR series featuring digital duplicates of real-world NASCAR cars and tracks in the most realistic NASCAR racing environment ever created.

Nascar 3 is the way to go for me. By far the most realistic game I've ever played. Not to mention it also stays up to date.

This is already out for the PC and I've had it since last September. Its a great sim game and its hardcore. Believe me, I've been racing games since my Pole Position on my Atari 2600 and raced everything all the way up and this is the most realistic racing game you will play.

I've raced Dale Jr, Truex Jr, Bobby Labonte, Mike Skinner, Justin Labonte, Marcos Ambrose, Ross Kenseth (Matt's kid), AJ Allmendinger, and countless other Truck, Nationwide, and lesser series drivers as well. Its the real drivers too.

iRacing don't just have the NASCAR license they have some other car types as well. Its on a ladder progression system too. Even though you can buy all of the cars and tracks you want you have to earn licenses to progress through the sim. Starting from scratch if you are good and meet the requirements it would still take you 6 months to progress to the point to where you could race the COT style NASCAR Cup cars. Right now in iRacing you can drive all of the following cars:

Impala SS Cup COT
Impala Class B Nationwide style car
Chevy Silverado Championship Trucks
Pavement Late Models
SK Modifieds
Silver Crown Paved Sprints
Advanced Legends
Legends

And for the road guys:

Riley Daytona Prototypes

Now, for anything other than the base game download (which includes only the Solstice, Ford Spec Racers, and both classes of Legends) you have to pay for each additional car. Also the only tracks it comes with off the bat is Lowes, Lanier, South Boston, and one of the other road courses. Each track cost extra as well - usually $20-$25. That's in addition to the $19.99 monthly fee for service so this is definitely a "niche" game and not for everyone. The costs definitely add up and you have to pick and choose what you want. If you bought all the added content to date you'd be spending over $500 easily.

Apparently at E3 there was just an amazing video of NASCAR in Gran Turismo 5. Evidently Sony has also picked up a NASCAR license and will have cars, drivers, and some tracks in GT5.

If I find out any more will post pictures or links
