Manufactuer bragging rights left Nascar a long time ago. These cars are so far from stock and they're not even close to anything sitting on a car lot. The COT just drove the wedge even that much further in the car on the sales lot and the one on the track. So who really cares what manufactuer joins Nascar? We're talking about allowing said company to put a vinyl decal of model name on front, a vinyl emblem on the hood and some fake vinyl tail lights on the rear of Nascar's box.
The engines might be of said brand but the displacement is 358 cu inch pushrod V8 with a carburetor. No one runs anything like that in a new car.
The other reason besides poor sales that manufacturers are not as high on NASCAR. Cars that do not really represent what is being sold.
