I'm late on this thread, but I just thought I would drop by to give a few words of support to the folks over at NASA. I think that in many ways that NASA model is flawed, but continued space exploration is a must. We've seen recently that stopping and restarting is very difficult, even when the stop was a short one and the infrastructure was left in place.
