At the end of his interview today Kiffin was asked whether or not there will be names on a back of the jerseys this year and his answer was...No.

Sounds to me like he is really stressing the importance of team over individual. I like it! Plus its not like I can read the names from the stands anyway.

I don't think he really cared to answer the question and just said it. I don't think he cares one way or another as long as his team plays the way he wants them to.

He did said no but I'm not sure he was saying no to the names or no we have not discussed that as of yet.

Thats the impression I got too, but if he didn't care one way or the other wouldn't he have said that he hadn't thought about it just like the question before regarding jersey changes?

Taking names off jerseys is such a tired ploy.

I don't disagree, but aesthetically I just like jerseys a lot better without the names on them. In all sports.

EDIT: I actually like what the Yanquis and the Sawks do, with the names on the back on the away jerseys but no names on the home jerseys. Don't think I've ever seen a football team do that though.

Names should stay. Recruits like the fact that their names will be seen on their jersey while they are making a play on national TV.

Leave the names.

I agree. If you think taking names off jerseys is a serious solution to your team not playing together then that raises concerns to me about your ability. I understand if its just for looks but when coaches say to make them play like a team they do that its just dumb. The impression I got was that he didnt want to answer the question and if they dont it sounds more like it would be for looks than anything else.

Agreed......If you're a player and all you can think about is your name on your back, then you will suck.......Nobody is thinking about that during the game, except us fans......although techinically, we should memorize the entire roster....:)

Yeah, I'm sorry but numbers and players change so much that I'd prefer to keep the names on the back just so I know who I'm looking at. There's a lot of players on the field that never get their name said and the only way you know they're out there is when you see their name on the ir jersey on a camera shot or something.
So I say keep them.

No names on the back of jerseys means no more stupid black letters on the away jerseys!

it's a coin toss...if the names stay, good...if they leave, no biggy. A real fan should know the numbers to their favorite players, not by finding the last name on the field.
