When I was little, my buddy T.J. and I were watching a UT game on TV with my Dad and assorted cousins, uncles, aunts, etc...

It was third down and UT was pinned deep in it's own territory, nursing a lead, when, lo and behold, Ole Johnny decided to pooch punt on 3rd down.

I looked at TJ and said fairly loudly, "What the hell was that ****?"

He started dying laughing, I was laughing, and we both looked at my Dad who had fire in his eyeballs like I'd never seen and haven't seen since. My Dad never even spanked me (cue the jokes) but on that day he chased TJ and I all the way to my room, TJ and I laughing all the while, and stood outside the barricaded door to my room for a while just fuming.

I'm pretty sure TJ and I laughed for a solid hour.

We laugh about it today.

I hate to break this to you Pooch, but your whole existence is predicated on incorrect terminology. Kicking on 3rd when backed up in your own territory is called a quick kick. A pooch punt is punting deep in your opponents territory purposely shanking it trying to pin them deeper against there endzone. Your new name is Quick Kick. Sorry.:birgits_giggle:

when I was little the Fall Guy came on TV right before the good programs like the A-Team that I anxiously awaited. Lee Majors was a bad @ss.

Also references the fall = football = awesomeness

No one should need help figuring out how I got my name. If they do they should be a Bama fan.

Mine is a kinda self-deprecating thing. I'm a good natured know-it-all blowhard. It helps me to remember not to take this place to seriously. Sometimes I still do though.:hi:

My nephew (8 at the time) drew a picture of Tennessee player holding the Sears Trophy after the 98 NC and gave it to me. His caption was "Pandamonium Reigns - John Ward". His misspelling of Pandemonium stuck with me. (Sadly - I missplaced the picture during a move)

That also is one of my favorite ever broadcasts from Mr Ward - so its a tribute to my nephew and Mr Ward.
