Years ago (as VOLS wondered through the shadow of the coaching valley), there was an assistant coach I’m trying to name.

- Relatively small
- Black
- Always swung a white towel over his head
- Would run and chest bump players making big plays
- Lots of energy

Who ya got? Where’s he at?

Thanks guys! It WAS Trooper. I just couldn’t recall the name.

I miss that enthusiasm. I’m hopeful the VOLS new DC brings that kind of energy to the sideline. I love watching players and coaches who can’t contain the emotion.

uhm Willie Martinez brings that energy on the sidelines every game
People can say what they want about him, but he is always coaching

I remember some drama he caused after leaving here in recruiting and used WR Gerald Jones to convince a recruit not to come here.....or something to that extent.

Never liked him, Trooper Taylor. All that towel waving and chest bumping was to attract attention. Got credit for having two 1K rushers while RB coach but sucked as RB coach because he coached RB’s to run to get tackled.

Left because Fulmer wouldn’t make him OC. Actually a smart move by fulmer.
