I realize Butch is our coach for years to come, and I became a Butch Jones supporter the moment he was hired at UT. I really hope Butch can continue learning on the job, and make the necessary adjustments to be successful here.

However, I wish the university could have someone with the same mentality as this guy from Houston when our next hire is made.

ESPN reported, "Billionaire Tilman Fertitta, chairman of the Houston board of regents, said earlier this week he had no concerns about money being a deciding factor to keep Herman."

"I do not fear a bidding war for Tom," Fertitta said. "We're not going to lose him over money."

Even with all of Tennessee's Big $ donors we always seem to hire a Small $ coach. I know this has been talked about numerous times, but reading that quote frustrated me.

I wish Tennessee could be as willing to pay a proven winner as HOUSTON seems to be. Will my wish ever come true????

Go VOLS beat those nasty commode dores!

Money will not keep Herman at Houston. Having an easy schedule as Houston and multiple billionaires is the reason he goes to Texas.

I don't get the love for Herman. What has he really done that's so special. He has a wide open offense. Defense isn't that awesome. Would he truly succeed in the SEC at a mediocre school? I doubt it. If he was at Tennessee we would still be in the same boat without a stellar defense.

I wasn't necessarily advocating Herman as "the guy"...I'm just speaking in general terms. I wish we would get big $ guy, and pay what it takes to get a proven winner.

Herman has done more with less. I'd like to see what he could do with a roster of highly rated players.

Yeah losing to Memphis, Navy and SMU is doing a lot. Especially with a preseason Heisman QB. Herman is the flavor of the week. Just like Fuente was last year.

My wish is for Tennessee to get rid of Butch, return to the cellar of the SEC, be happy to win 6 games and keep hiring and firing every 3-4 years. We would have a much happier fanbase then.

You say that sarcastically, but it is the truth with some. They will say you're dumb and a "Butch can do no wrong" sheep, but it is what they are actually living, right now.

Memphis is taking Herman to the woodshed right now.

Suspect the team might be a bit distracted by the rumblings regarding their coach. We UT fans know what a distraction in the locker room can do to a team. Understandable that they'd be a bit off their game. Just glad memphis wasn't on our schedule this year.

They looked absolutely spooked last week vs Louisville

A coach is only as good as the players execute.

I'd sure want to pay a coach $8 Million a year that Loses to Memphis, LOL!

WIN out boys!
