First of all this opinion is based on the theroy we stay healthy for the whole season. So here goes my thoughts.
I beleive we start the year 4-0 with wins over NC State, Ga. State, Florida and Akron. Then Georgia I believe is fifty fifty only because it is in athens if it was in Knoxville I would say eighty percent chance we win. We beat Mississippi State. Alabama ten to twenty percent chance we win, they are still very deeply loaded with talent. South Carolina forty percent chance we win would be reversed sixty percent chance we win if in Knoxville. I believe from there we win out with wins over Troy, Missouri, Vanderbilt, and Kentucky. Nine wins, ten to eleven very possible. Oh and by the way I love Tennessee. GO VOLS!

We almost beat UGA last year without Hunter and Bray going out late in the game. We almost beat USC without Hunter and a true freshman QB. I'm really not worried about either. If the OP is correct and we beat FloriDUH, I think that gives this team the confidence to beat anyone, although I agree bammer will be a tough one to win.

Good post, Bayou.. I agree for the most part, but I think you are being a little overly-optimistic about FLA, UGA and Mizzou. Here are my percentage chances for wins (W/L)

NC State - 70/30 - IMO this should be Cincy 2011 part 2
GA State - 100 - Lock
FLA - 50/50 - I just can't predict a win here until we prove we can break the streak
Akron - 90/10 - Pretty much a lock
UGA - 30/70 - Sorry, I just think Murray is too good and they have too much talent and depth defensively
MS State - 60/40 - They are physical and have a solid D. If our D plays well, I think we can take em
Bama - 10/90 - Just don't see it happening
South Carolina - 60/40 - I think we get this one.. Again, this one comes down to our D stepping up
Troy - 100 - Lock
Mizzou - 50/50 - Most people underestimate this team, and I think this will be a tough one. Offensively they have weapons and a proven QB that can potentially hang with our offense
Vandy - 70/30 - We beat the snot out of the commodes
UK - 80/20 - Revenge is best served @ Neyland

I'm thinking 8, maybe 9 wins in the regular season, with a win over whomever we play in our bowl game. I think we win all of our out of conference games, then split our SEC schedule. I think we win Missouri, Vandy and Kentucky and take 1 or 2 out of Florida, Alabama, USC, Miss. State and Georgia. I think that's a reasonable expectation.

In the definite win column, Missouri might be tough, but I'm not sure how healthy Franklin will be for them and its in Knoxville. I just can't see them beating us, especially after they spent the previous weekend in Florida while we were at home, crushing Troy. Kentucky and Vandy will be a breeze this year, as well they should be (that's me talking, I hope the team takes them much more seriously than I do).

In the remainder of the schedule, I think we beat Florida. Their streak has gone on too long, it's time that thing turned around. They have no discernable offense and defense alone can only take them so far. I actually think (hope) we beat them relatively handily.

As for rest, I think they each pose their own degrees of difficulty. Alabama is the only game that is almost a sure-fire loss, though. And if our team is amped up for that game, anything can happen (I sure hope it does!).

Significant injuries for either us or the other teams obviously could change this analysis, though I think key injuries would affect us a little less this year than last year, given improved depth.

Oh yeah, I think our offense makes a dramatic improvement- I think we'll be talked about nationally for the level of improvement we have there. I think our defense is solid and will probably improve over last year, but not significantly. We'll probably have to win a shootout or two with somebody. New system, not exactly the right mix of players for that system, etc.

That's my two (or fifty) cents.

If, IF, our WR's stay healthy, we will be a nightmare for any secondary, Bama included.

please take this as the joke it is intended to be. I say we win nothing, natta, no wins at all so I can take the title of worse prediction of year haha

okay seriously I meant my post from the other day. I really feel this team could be special. I will be very surprised if they don't win 9 games or more.

Alabama and Georgia are the two toughest games on our schedule this year. Georgia due to their defense.

NC State we should beat. Ghost of the Georgia Dome should be the only thing that concerns us here.

Georgia State goes without saying.

If we lose to Florida at home it's mental.

Akron goes without saying.

@ Georgia...the before mentioned defense and the fact it's a road game. Aaron Murray still doesn't impress me.

@ MSU shouldn't be a problem either. Their senior laden team underachieved greatly last year, and there's no reason to expect anything more from them this year.

Alabama...we'll have the best shot we've had in a while. I predict a 2010 type season for Alabama, which means they'll drop one somewhere along the way they probably shouldn't. Could be at Knoxville, but not holding my breath. Don't think it will be a beat down this year however.

@ USC...if everyone is healthy we should win this game. In 2010 Simms and depth lost the game for us, last year inexperience at key positions and the lack of a run game lost the game for us. Even when they win they don't impress me...at all.

Troy should go without saying.

Mizzou will be beat up from their first season in the SEC. I think we'll win that one.

@ Vandy...the stadium will be half orange and I think they'll take a step back from last year.

Kentucky...revenge.

They're all winnable this year. Do I think we'll win them all? No, but when was the last time we said we should have a chance in every game?

With this in mind, how in THE HECK can people be satisfied with 8-4 next year?

I like Carlitovols analysis but I would give more weight to UT on the Florida and Miss St games and less to NC State as I think it will take a game or 2 to get the kinks out of the 3-4 and NC State has a decent offense......

anything away from neyland is a less than 50/50 proposition until proven otherwise.

IF we lose to the Wolf Pack, then it's all downhill from there...

That being said, I think we do beat NC State and finish either 8-4 or 9-3.

Everyone is confident in the spring, but what exactly have the Vols done for you to expect them to be better next year?

Well, for starters, we have our star WR back Justin Hunter, Da'rick Rogers, plus JUCO WR Patterson, so teams can have fun guarding them 3. More experience and depth this year. Our D line should be improved with the opposition of Sentimore plus the younger guys are impressing, and the guys who played last year have more experience. We brought in a recruiting class with a good amount of talent to move players back to their natural position's. Like Waggner moving back to Corner. This season IMO all depends on how our running game goes. If we can run the football, we will be a good football team this year.

keep tellin yourself that..I wonder how much you will feel like being around here when we stomp the living **** out of the gators this year.

Don't worry I wouldn't lower myself to coming to your boards to rub it in. I would feel too dirty trying to troll another teams boards.

1. florida is at neyland

2. why don't you take a peek at tennessee's road record in recent years.

if you want "trolling" comments, i can make them. but, most of the things i post have a sound reason behind them

right now, until proven otherwise, tennessee is TERRIBLE on the road. like, we can't beat kentucky in regulation in our last three trips to lexington TERRIBLE. like, charles barkley "turrable".

so, when forcasting games on the road, i would take that under consideration.

but, that's just me
